I always thought that the Trumpeter model was perhaps the most detailed and thoughtfully made model, especially when working with Honor and Glory. But apparently not, and I’m shocked to the amount of improvements and replacements needed for this one model.

Hi, it's going well and you are catching me up! You will enjoy the stern plating, it makes so much difference. Possibly leave the pad eyes for a while as they are so easily knocked off whilst you are handling the hull unless you cover them I suppose! I chose to change the hull shape by using Nigel's references which was a lot of work and a true baptism of fire!! The PE hull plating is beautifully made but also causes so much work and is where I am at just now! Even that will need major mods as I am modelling the Olympic. Great video, explained nice and clearly. Enjoy! Regards JH 😉

@@themodelbench Ouch! Okay if you have not seen these YTube guides on this very subject then I can recommend these. John's iconic military models and Themodelboatguy. They may help you sort this out. They prefabricated parts of the plating off of the ship which seems to work really well. Good luck with it. If you really foul up on any of the PE you could always use a piece of plastic sheeting cut to the correct shape. Fingers crossed that you can sort it out! Regards JH. 😉

@@johnnyhollis9977 Thanks I have looked at those . The template is fine at the back but slightly runs off on the sides. Maybe that’s how it’s meant to be. I’ve asked on Facebook group..;)

@@themodelbench Yes the side pieces do seem to run off at a strange angle. They narrow and double which can look a little odd but actually is right. I am sure that you will crack it. When the whole thing is primed and painted it will look pretty good. Prevail and I am sure that you will get it pretty close! 🤞

I'd like to see someone install the watertight bulkheads .. there must be enough data out there to place them correctly

You must be pleasantly pleased with yourself and you should be. Great work! I stopped model building over 20 years ago. Back then I had no outlet to highlight the hours of extra detailing dedicated to my build. If I wanted a specific detail notice, I had to sheepishly and reluctantly point it out. I knew that my victim wouldn't or couldn't appreciate the investment of time. Keep up the great work, I appreciate it.
