At least he got nominated for comeback and KO of the year. But it's understandable that Dubois won, he was an under dog expected to lose on a huge stage in front of 96,000 people, who most were there for AJ.

AJ had 3 losses and had been knocked out before. Venado has never been knocked out until Angelo, it’s not understandable. AJ didn’t almost die vs Dubios

@@Truschoolsports 2 losses were to Usyk and he revenged Ruiz. Most of the channels that had lives for end of year awards had Dubois winning KO of the year, a few of them I had to remind them of Leo. It is what it is, Dubois was in people's minds more because it was a bigger fight.

@@MarkH-z8if it being a bigger fight was the reason then it still could’ve won event of the year. Plus Heavyweight boxing a ko is always expected, in the lower weight classes it’s not. That’s another reason why it should be special. There were also a lot of people like usual questioning AJ’s chin/will and heart like usual as well.

@@alexfitzmaurice5429 A bigger fight is part of the reason, like being a championship fight, quality of opponent, etc. increases the chances of winning. If it's just a KO by itself, the Filipino guy on Probox should be on the list as well, along with some other smaller fights. That's why other criteria's shorten the nominees and the majority decision wins. Even if his chin is questionable, Dubois got the KO where the other opponents couldn't do it except Ruiz.

I think the optics were the best for Leo since he was an underdog, not the champ and Venado had not been down at that point in the fight. I would probably put Lucas Bahdi in a close 2nd because it was a non title fight and Dubois 3rd since he was the champ and had AJ down a couple times already. I dont remember if Surace was included but I would likely have it tied for 2nd or possibly 3rd.

This is simple. Featherweights don't come before heavyweights. Also, Spanish/Latino fighters don't make the best money fighting each other. Fight a black or a Russian and you'll get more notoriety.

Leo vs Venado was competitive until the Ko. On the other hand, Bahdi was getting his as kicked. H20 got cocky and started showboating. Then Bahdi sleeps him in devastating fashion. xD
