Great vid! I am just getting started. Slot raced as a Kid with Grandpa and Dad. But now, in my early 50s... Going to have some fun, and get back into it. Mostly been collecting track and cars. LOL Hard not to. But it's time to get serious now, and get a nice lay-out going. Having a hard time just getting started. But gathering supplies, wood, etc. I will eventually (probably) grab some of these controllers.

That is awesome! So many of us have come back to slot cars. Thank you and welcome back! Any questions, just ask

The brake pot on the controller allows the driver to adjust their cars braking whilst racing, without the need to stop the race and adjust it on the control unit.

I have a couple analog Truspeed controllers that I am using on my old Artin 1:43 set, brought that old track back to life. Thinking about getting a couple of the digital controllers for my Carrera set.

Try the Franken slot wireless Digital controller. A bit pricey at about 169. Up to 44 steps as opposed to the stock 16 makes a HUGE difference. Also there is a 3d print file available to convert the stock controllers to trigger style. I'm having a couple printed up and looking forward to trying them.

I've seen a few but not sure why anyone would need an expensive controller that does the same thing as this. Wireless I guess

Nice review, Dan. I like the basic controllers. I’m getting used to the wireless ones and now have 4 of those. But I can’t wait to get a couple of TruSpeed to round out the setup.

Personally the TruSpeed controllers are awesome and feel good in the hand with great control. 4 wireless and 2 Truspeed is how I will go for the first bit. The big difference I found between the Truspeed and Carrera controllers wireless or not is the jerky throttle from the plunger style of Carrera. Truspeed is much smoother when pushing and releasing the throttle . Also TruSpeed controllers are price right!!! Thanks Hughes!

I love my truspeed controller it is a massive step up from the standard one. Mine has the brake button, it's a dead kill switch, it's handy for a launch at the start, other than that I don't see the point either.

It feels good in my hands and the price was right! Thanks for watching Dave!

Truespeed are great, the trigger can be adjusted and spring tension so that is a massive plus.

So, the brake switch is so you can stay full throttle and hit the brake switch at a cross over to prevent crashes.
@PaleAle-kg7gz Жыл бұрын
The brake is nice. Carrera brakes after you fully release the throttle not a 1/4 release or anything like that. So you can stay on throttle a couple secs longer then you don’t have to fully release the throttle to brake.

Just bought 7 more of the old Aurora AFX controllers. 2 of the adjustable orange ones, 1 blue Russkit type and 4 of the usual yellow Russkit type. $39 for them shipping and tax included. I really like those for some cars and for my more advanced cars I have half a dozen Parmas in 45 and 25 ohm. I like how serviceable all these controllers are and definitely the price. Have no desire to move beyond Parma, especially now that they are back in production.

Of course if I was willing to spend $150-200 on a single car of any scale I might think about an advanced electronic controller. Being able to essentially run any car with the same controller obviously has advantages but for me I don't mind having to use different controllers for different cars since I really have only 2 slightly different handle types and I like them both.

With the truespeed contoller your break can be set so you get roll so you can glide into the corner and roll through then power out but you might find that is still to fast so having the break button gives that well for me it’s like the handbrake on real car that’s the only way I can describe its purpose not as aggressive though that comes with experience to get drift once you got it 😊

Thanks for this. I'm pretty much set on getting a pair of Frankenslot controllers but I keep seeing the Truspeed being reviewed and its making me think twice. I don't actually care about the wireless to much cause I tend to go back to my spot to race after a crash anyway. decisions decisions.....great vid!
@PaleAle-kg7gz Жыл бұрын
I have true speed and frankenslot. If you don’t care much for its versatility i would say just get the true speed. That being said i really love my frankenslot. Very smooth triggers a bit easier and for me its the wireless and uses batteries. I haven’t tried them on the 3 plug analog tracks yet.

Obviously off topic but any "interaction" "helps" the channel. What I would really like to see someone make in HO is some Firebird TransAms of the years '67 - mid '70s. The Aurora and Autoworld T Jet versions of the early Firebird just doesn't look right and then we jump to '77 and later. A '73 455 Super Duty sure would be nice and so would a '70 TA or Formula. An SD would be so hot they wouldn't be able to make enough of them.
