Excellent commercial, and being in the USA, I prefer the older style news, report the news as you learn the facts, don’t make snide remarks or comments or pass judgment, just report the news, and BBC does that best. I may lean left in my views, but I want my news right down the center. I don’t consider the other cable news networks actually news networks. They are news opinion networks where people tune in to their favorite flavor to shake their heads up and down. I definitely agree with the old media bias site that the BBC is the least bias in reporting news. I remember reading an interview of the guy who ran both MSNBC and Fox news. His words paraphrased, “Cable news is not here to educate you. We are here to make money.”
@Fidelisjoff7 ай бұрын
Do you actually watch or listen to the BBC news and programming it has been a few decades since the BBC reported the unvarnished truth. Many people no longer watch it. If it was a commercial station it would have a lot of problems because millions would stop funding it overnight.
@braveorslave18 күн бұрын
Hahaha Americans still seem to trust the BBC. I see there praise for the BBC a lot. Its because they live in a country with such partisan news outlets that when they see the BBC they mistake it for impartiality which is hilarous to me because everyone in the know is well aware that the BBC is a mouthpiece for the left. Pro migrant. Pro Lgbt. Pro Abortion. Pro Ukraine. The only thing they seem undecided on at the moment is Israel. The older left obsessed with anti semitism and the younger left obsessed with islamaphobia so its strange to watch them fight each other on this.

I wonder why the BBC felt the need to make an advert to tell us how trustworthy it is?
@Whatisnottaken2 жыл бұрын
Good wine needs no bush. If the BBC has to advertise itself as a trustworthy source of information, then it can’t be taken seriously. Factual, Accurate, Concise and True (FACT) is only for students in journalism schools. In the real world journalism ethics are rare. Selective reporting, bias commentaries and half-truths are employed to fool and influence public opinion. Nobody has the journalistic license to write anything however true when it is the editor and owner who decides what gets printed according to their own interest and agenda. Unless it is owned and publish by someone like Julian Assange who exposed the ugly truths about the dirty deeds of the U.S military in Afghanistan and Iraq where hundreds of innocent civilians were killed.

Your selective reporting of "the facts" to suit your agenda is what made me lose trust in the BBC as an institution. The BBC has some great programmes but it's news coverage is often terrible. Only a couple of weeks ago they had to apologise because they had peddled the lie yet again that Corbyn had never apologised for antisemitism in the Labour Party and how it hadn't been handled quickly enough. Within about a week or so they'd said almost the exact same thing again. The Panorama Documentary accused two retired women of asking a man where he was from, the insinuation being they were enquiring as to whether or not he was from Israel. They actually asked him which branch he was from and the subject of his faith or ethnicity was never raised which is perhaps not surprising given both of them were themselves Jewish. The programme, in all its thoroughness, neglected to mention this rather basic fact. In her first Question Time, Fiona Bruce decided as her position as 'impartial' compare to intervene when Diane Abbot and Isabel Okenshot were arguing about the opinion polls going down on the side of the latter. It was proved very quickly on social media that Diane was right, the polls were split. We always see a lot of people working away on computers in the background on the news. You'd think one of them might actually be able to do even just a google search to check some of these facts. The BBC often make the excuse of being impartial when they don't actually hold someone to account when they have said something factually incorrect and yet will often intervene to give their opinion. Fiona Bruce had an incident where Barry Gardiner was defending Corbyn's records on campaigning against racism both in terms of antisemitism and all other forms of racism and she interrupted him to tell him one MP had said they couldn't be in the party with him as leader or something like that. Why would we want to hear facts when we can hear about someone's opinion, eh. She may even have been in with the group who referred to people of asian heritage as having a 'funny tinge'. If that is the case, I probably wouldn't want her in my party. Bruce also made that awful blunder piping up to point out Johnson's dad had only punched his wife that one time. Would have been great if her predecessor was better but he wasn't. Whenever anyone draws the audience's attention to the basic underlying problem with pretty much everything we do in this country being a lack of fair distribution of wealth, he used to pipe in with 'alright, alright...' as if some ideological argument was being made. I think he did it to Jeanette Winterson and perhaps Ken Loach too. And about two months after that b/s when Theresa May claimed a policy launched by Labour on student debt contradicted something he had said in an NME interview, an interview which was readily available on the internet ( proving he hadn't contradicted himself at all ), Dimbleby brought it up again on QT with the same inaccuracies. So impartial presenters referring us to the 'opinions' of certain people and presenting us with 'facts' which fail the first hurdle of a basic fact check is fine but actually correcting politicians ( usually the party in power but sometimes some of those Labour MPs who toe the line ) when they say something which is easily shown to be untrue is beyond the remit of BBC journalists. There is a lot which needs fixing with the current BBC News and Current Affairs output.
