I use this method, but I spice it up. Tapping the R button in Fire Red / Leaf Green results in instant max bet. Also, I let it randomly work till I have two 7s on the screen. I then use it as a classic timing slot puzzle like in Mario 2 and 3 on the NES to hit that last 7. It results in a 300c jackpot for me every few minutes, and it works on the other machines as well. Although it spins fast, you can see the 7 because it is bigger and has a bright color. Also, Towards Data Science found the machine two above the old man has the best payouts if you want to stick to one machine. Don’t forget to save after winning !

I go positive on every machine. It's about the timing pattern. Try and get the 7 first and then the 2nd 7. The 3rd 7 needs more practice as it seems faster, but once you get the timing down for each column, you'll hit more point rewards and jackpots.

Finally tried this last night, it worked for me. Always took me ~100+ coins till the next jackpot, but switching back and forth with the two machines worked, I hit the jackpot 6 times easy. You dont need to do this. You can see the red sevens as the wheel spins. If you take a bit and get the timing down, you can hit all sevens every couple tries on any machine. I do this almost every run so I dont think the game necessarily uses luck
