Thankyou Tara. I am listening in the day after Christmas 2024. What a blessing to be able to listen to this , and find meaning in every point you shared from the first to the last. My tummy is still definiteltv over filled, but my heart feels light and joyful.

I do not feel any better and now no worse than any other but I do see that my choices (and even non-choices) are much softer towards my self-critical thinking and that it has taken much support and willingly working on being kinder towards my self.

Me too. I'm learning empathy for myself and then I have more empathy for others. I used to be very critical of myself but I'm much kinder now. However I do need kind ppl in my life.

I'm working on this now. Staying alone a lot. Listening to my inner self. Learning who I am my authentic self. Learning kindness and compassion for myself

Thank you Tara. I found compassion for the child that I was listening to you speak. Your gentleness comes through.

Thoughts around the sense of self have a purpose. They are signals that the basic human needs are not being met. Living a nomadic life I see these thoughts resurface and grow stronger when I am in cities and dissipate in remote wilderness. The thoughts are most prevalent and aggressive when I have been away from silence too long. They are signals to connect with my true nature and act from it.

Thank you for sharing that story about abuse. It’s not surprising. I, too in the early “daze” of yoga in the West, lived in an ashram. (Though not with YB) I was a teenager then, and the influence of “the Guru” as almighty infallible deity permeated ashram culture. ( still does) Lucky for me, I was not the direct recipient of this teacher’s sexual misdeeds. So, early on I learned the valuable lesson of it’s the “teachings”, and not necessarily “the teacher” to follow. We’re all human, we’re all full of contradictions, and there’s no shame in it. In fact, it’s always giving us opportunities to choose kindness and understanding. 🙏😉

Oh that piece on Honesty is sooo familiar! I've committed deeply to honoring & respecting Trust & Integrity. It's always just felt Right to carry myself with these as core tenets of who I Am. And yuppers! Omg sometimes it can be difficult, knowing the kinds of reactions I may spark but yeah, that's part of integrity
