This is Greg Newsome (Defense) in 2021-2022 on the Cleveland Browns addressing media rumors that Baker wasn't a team guy (after Beckham forced his way out to join the Rams the month before they got to the Superbowl). Baker often invited teammates to his house and hung out together at different sports events. While Baker admitted Myles Garrett (Defense) was wrong to hit QB Mason Rudolph (Okie on Steelers) in the head with his helmet in 2019, Baker went out publicly with him & became very close & supported him during his suspension to get his life back on track. They made a pact for Baker to lead the Offense & Myles lead the Defense the next year to the playoffs in 2020 (beat the Steelers & almost beat the Chiefs) & they did it! 😄 Think it bothered OBJ he was out his 2nd year on IR (4th HC Stefanski was home with Covid during playoff win). 🙄 Too bad the OBJ drama the following year (2021) & Baker forced to play badly hurt all season destroyed their progress from "same ole Browns" (G2 Baker suffered torn L shoulder labrum & later fracture -same as Drew Brees, he had surgery jan 2022, rehab until July trade to Panthers). 🏈 Austin Hopper (6'4") was a Browns TE & close friend & supporter of Baker Mayfield (google Jim Rome interview). Austin is with the Raiders now. Browns RB Nick Chubb is also a close personal friend of Bakers. 😊👍🏈

Ya see ill always root for baker and hope he can make a spot for him in the league. But the team just couldn't deal with the inconsistent qb play he provided. One game he plays like tom Brady absolutely unstoppable. And next game hes playing like carson wentz. The best example i can give is the season he tore his labrum. Our first game is against KC and ehilst we lost that game it really was a proper shoot out with baker playing really well. Very next week. Playing a much worse Houston Texans and he struggles. Throwing a interception where he injured himself making a tackle to save it from being returned for a touch down. In his non throwing shoulder might i add. And I'll also point out that Andrew luck played for like 2 whole seasons with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder snd was still one of the best QBs in the league. So I'm not of the opinion his injury is why he played bad. I just think his decision making isn't where it needs to be right now

@FaultzGaming So you mention inconsistent play but in the same sentence say it was after he tore his labrum? Of course his play is going to drop off after that. If every throw you make feels like your arm is gonna come off and getting hit is ten times more painful...what do you think he is going to play like? It was up to Stefanski and the coaches to tell Baker to stay off the field and male sure of it. Any competitor is going to insist they want to play if they have a heart for the game. Stefa ski should have told him "appreciate the fire in you and that you want to be out there. But if you go out there you risk not only the games but your health as well!" Shoulda left it at that and rolled the rest of the season with him on the bench. Things happened how they happened. Now he's playing amazing football with the Bucs and is probably going to be a thorn in our ass for years to come. Baker will play with a fire under his ass every time he steps onto the field against the Browns.

@@kevinerbs2778been saying that forever. Coaches shoulda been like "nope, you aren't playing right now...period." left it at that and let the man heal up. Of course he's going to want to play. What starting QB wants to ride the bench if they are a real competitor. Oh well...glad he's doing great with thr Bucs and has validated everything I have been saying about the dude. Can't believe how fast some Browns fans turned on him after a the success he brought us compared to everything prior to him. Since 99 before the Browns had 5 only 5 seasons where they won 6 games or more. 2 winning seasons 1 playoff birth and no playoff wins. Baker won 6 or more games all 4 years he was the starter. 1 playoff birth plus a win. They almost beat the Chief’s but bad coaching and not going for it on 4th down cost them that game. The six seed titans went to the AFC Championship game that year and got whooped by the Chief’s. Cleveland would have beat them. Cleveland was one quarter away from hosting AFC champions game and going to the super bowl. Browns would never get rid of him then.

Amazing. I’m in awe. Surely a top 10 QB in the league dominated the worst division in football, and didn’t get in the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, but luckily they had to clinch against a 2-13 team.
@christiancorley4309
@christiancorley4309 7 ай бұрын
@JoshuaDobbs-pl8sd outplay a rookie, that’s a start. But even then, that’s not even a game of concern. The REAL question you should ask is, where tf was he the last 2 games, against mediocre teams with the playoffs on the line? Top 10 QB but throws 137 and 0 TDs against the panthers? Bucs haven’t won against actual teams all year, the closest things to teams they’ve beaten have been known frauds, aside from the packers who have a good offense, but a horrendous defense. They didn’t even sweep the easiest division in the league. Baker is a good duct tape QB. But this is him with an easy af schedule and Mike Evans. The bucs opponents got released, they’re playing the NFC East and AFC West, with the Niners, Ravens, and lions as additional opponents. Yall ain’t ready for the bad baker year that’s coming if yall sign him long term.

Lets see what Baker does in Tampa... his time at Carolina exposed Baker's faults to a T. Everyone wants to paint Baker the QB as the victim but no body actually watches FILM. Unnecessary forced throws into double, sometimes triple coverages. Batted balls galore. Over/under throwing recievers consistently. Some of yall need to get outta your feelings frfr. A man named Quicy Carrier is a Browns beat pod caster and is one of the best at breaking down film and overall real browns information. Check his videos and break downs of Baker out. It'll make you a better overall fan. Baker as a person and a Man... is dope asf and seems like a genuinely real ass dude.... Baker the QB... is aiiight. Please learn the difference!

@_profectus not gonna lie, he's looking effective and playing to a high level. I'll give him his earned praise. However.. I remain cautious in being "all in". This is a long season. Let's see if this level of performance is still on come Dec. Let's see what he looks like against Philly tonight. If he plays lights out. I will absolutely eat crow.

Baker basically revitalize a losing fan base of the Cleveland Browns that pretty much have lost all hope at the time. Cleveland Browns was worry about Bakers antics but have no problem with a serial sex offender. No wonder the original Browns move to Baltimore and change the name.

I’m not sure what Tampa is celebrating. They went 9-8. That’s 9/17. You can’t get in to college with that score 😂😂. Mike Evans, dropped the f ball …literally. They should have penalized him $4M for those drops and gave them to Baker. How the f…you pay a starting QB who’s been in the league for years now, $4M annually. Granted he can earn up to $8.5M in incentives but choke artist Prescott made more money in one game, than baker made this year. That’s f….

Browns fan but WHY would you draft a small, unathletic,2x walk-on qb#1??? A million excuses but ppl ignore that he had the MOST young talent ANY young QB has EVER had. Elite Ol, elite backs, good test, productive wrs&tes. Got Laundry at 25 and Beckham at 26. ONE winning season in 4 years. Never finished in the top 15 in yards,tds, completion percentage or qbr.
@JoshuaRyanErwin
@JoshuaRyanErwin 10 ай бұрын
The most talent? 😂😅 tell me, what were the ranks of his weapons? Huh? Juice was good but not anywhere close to the top and OBJ had one good catch before spending most of his career injured. He didn't even play a full season with them. The O line was improved dramatically in his second and third years. He had no stability and 4 different HCs and OCs in his first 3 years. His 4th season he was injured and shouldn't have even been on the field after week 2 and STILL they were in playoff contention up until the last 2 weeks of the season. Just stop. The team had won ONE game in the previous 2 years before drafting him, yet you wanna talk about how he didn't have a winning season every year? The guy helped turn around a trash organization, make them relevant again, took them to the playoffs (a place they hadn't been in over 20 years) by his 3rd year. Just say you don't like the guy and it's personal for you. At least that way you could maintain some credibility.

@@JoshuaRyanErwin I don't like him and he should have never been a first round pick let alone the #1 overall. It's gonna feel great when he fall on his face and get back to the bench this year. See, the defense is going to allow 20 points at some time and the defense is going to go a stretch where they don't produce 3-4 turnover a game. This is a smoke and mirrors 3-1 that will not hold up. He is a journeyman and he is even worse in obvious passing downs. Lastly clown, who the fuck are you to question my credibility. Save this like you do your Baker Mayfield posters and we will revisit this

@@JoshuaRyanErwin Your not to successful on life are you? That comment was riddled with excuses and pure gibberish. It had so many falsehoods I don't know where to start. For you to accept and defend mediocrity and weak play is pathetic. He so bad he is playing like a poor man's jimmy Garapolo and ppl ready to put him in Canton. That's because the bar is so low. If backdooring as a#6 seed every 4 years is your idea of competence, I don't know what to tell you. Please ppl, stop acting like this guy is reinventing the greatest show on turf. Lol!One winning season is unacceptable. A overall losing record and mediocre to poor stats.The highest he finished in yards was 14th and completion percentage was 17th. Tds was like 15th. The only season I thought he might be the guy was his rookie year. Keep that energy and we will revisit this.

No, it was a defender, Greg Newsome, answering questions after the media said Baker wasn't liked by his teammates when Beckham finally forced his way out by throwing Baker under the bus. Browns forced to release Beckham with no compensation. He went to the Rams and those few games got him his ring. When all hell broke loose in the locker room and the Browns treated Baker so bad after his shoulder injury, they leaked stories so they wouldn't look bad. Greg told the truth. Yea, he liked Beckham. Of course! He was very wealthy & constantly gave gifts to players, but got then numerous penalties on the field. This guy talks about how he liked Baker too & he took him to dinner or hung out with him when his family weren't in town.
