Stolen Legacy is very high on my to-read list! George GM James was a freemason meaning that he had the inside scoop on African history way before the internet. Also add Robin Walker (When We Ruled) and Runoko Rashidi. I however always advise people when they're getting started on their African history journey, to start with Chancellor William's 'Destruction of Black Civilization'.

@@YouGotOptions2🙎🏾 people in many places, especially the US, grow up being taught that our ancestors were essentially slahves and before that running around in the jungle. They teach us how science was at first used to prove 🙎🏾 people were intellectually inferior, but that it is now understood that is a rahcist ideology. However, they then teach you about 🙎🏾 on 🙎🏾 violence, poverty, and lack of intellectual prowess without teaching you any context as to how a population arrived there. With a little knowledge, anyone would know it isn’t a genetic thing, as Nigerian students studying abroad largely outperform any other ethnic group in all metrics. But we aren’t taught this, just that we were slahves, and before that uncivilized. They don’t teach us of any precolonial West African societies, only Egypt which they conveniently 🙎🏼wash, along with Greek history. This implies that these issues in 🙎🏾-American communities are in fact genetic. This perspective is adopted not only by 🙎🏾 kids growing up, but by their non-🙎🏾 counterparts. I grew up in the US, and if you did you also know this to be true. Teaching not only 🙎🏾 people, but everyone about 🙎🏾 culture is one of the many steps necessary in reversing rahcist ideologies and instilling self-worth in 🙎🏾 people, and also attributing worth to 🙎🏾 people in the eyes of others. If other groups don’t value you, and think you’re inferior, they will treat you as such. So to answer your question, it is of critical importance in terms of human relations, safety, liberty, and progress.

All we ever hear about is Egypt. Most of our ancestors descended far from here. Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Mali; and west-central Africa, including what is now Angola, Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon. We disrespect them by appropriating other peoples origin

I would have said the same as you not too long ago, but then I had an aha moment. Our people were explorers. They were smart and curious. They traded with different groups, built relationships and shared ideas. There’s no reason to believe that they didn’t move throughout the continent, at any point over the course of thousands of years. There are West African tribes whose elders hold that they descended from Ancient Egypt/Nile Valley. For instance, look at the Dogon tribe, whose systems have striking similarities to ancient Egyptians. Focusing on the many unique things that set groups of Africans apart is great. But, I think it’s also worthwhile to study the ways our people our interconnected throughout the continent. I think we disrespect our ancestors when we discount their ability to move and interact with each other. For this reason, I think it’s important to study and celebrate all African cultures throughout the continent.

Many Afrikan nations will tell you that they come from Kemet and migrated all over.

What most of our people fail to realize because we have not been taught but only by Western civilization is that the Negroid people are NOT Kemet tho Kemet(Ham) is black/Dark skinned,but not of Negro .The Negro are actually from the Sub-saharan region which you've listed of the KONGO and colonisation split those lands up so you have DRC congo,Congo Angola,Cameroon,Gabon,Congo brasaville etc. Though The "Negro" were in Kemet and did have the intelligence ,What we did not know that is KONGO was a Kingdom that was invaded aswell. These accounts are biblical ,Hence Most of The Symbolic attributes are similar to the Kemetic beliefs and the greeks dominated and made their features of whitewashed deities included in the Christian belief system hence the worship on sunday (Tammuz worship) it is indeed Babylonian. The Accounts of our people fleeing from captivity of "Egypt" is true as well to inherit "the Land flowing with milk and honey ". Then Comes the many slave Trades Arabic and as well as the Atlantic slave Trade and it was all forced by Religious Missionaries .And 365 days is based from Greco Rome i.e. Gregorian Calendar not from the blacks tho we did use the heavens(sky) for signs of time and wonders

@nmw6543 жыл бұрын
Are you living in America? If a lighter skinned person presented themselves as black and dropped a statistic of ancestry proving they had 5% African genes, would you feel so confident in that % or dismissive and feel the culture is being appropriated and their struggle isn’t as hard? Just curious as many African Americans have a issue with mixed/lighter skinned POC, but do love to cling to their small %s of African DNA.
