@@dsg325 we will anyways for the American taxpayer. They want their shit on the shelves but can't provide safe parking for the folks that bring it. They sound like any other Karen that wants their stuff right now and if they ain't happy, want to speak to the manager. I think he meant to say state line. That could be 1500 per side. If you gonna go down the road, flip around and park going the other way, it is safer than the alternatives most times.

My Attorney recently won my case for an hours of service violation that I received at the California weigh station on Interstate 15 south. I did not want to park in Las Vegas because it is not safe. My Attorney argued that I did not consider it safe to park in Las Vegas even though I was out of hours. The court ruled in my favor that my hours of service violation was justified.

Yeah I think those guys just like to hear themselves talk. Off course you can do a great job planing but an 8 hour load or unload with a 1400 or later apt time.. you’re not going to be seating pretty. I think most of those guys are in a position that they don’t take any loads that might give them trouble. Im in a good position with a dedicated route and I drive nights but if I ever get held up past 2100, I don’t even bother with the mess at the truck stops, I just look for the biggest hotel. $100-150 is worth not having that headache for me
@Mytruckingtravels
@Mytruckingtravels Күн бұрын
@@george2pak while an unforeseen incident can happen, the majority of the time it's not the case. When I personally do my trip planning, I always look for backup places in case something does happen. When you trip planned you don't just pick out one place. And a lot of places that I check for when I do trip plan, are truck stops and rest areas that are not located right along the interstate. A lot of people have tunnel vision and only focus on the interstates. There are a ton of truck stops that are off the beaten path. In fact, on a lot of two lane roads in many states, dot has actually carved out big spots along the road where you can actually pull off. All you have to do is look at Google satellite maps for these places near your route You may be tired of hearing people say do better trip planning. But they are not wrong. It may take a little extra time to find these places, but they are there if you take the extra time to look for them

I think my comment disappeared lol. Look I don't just spout off information just to spout it off. And I don't talk just to hear myself talk. A lot of people do not have the patience to do proper trip planning. You might. But not everybody. And yes incidents do happen. But they're not the norm. When I do trip planning, I look for truck stops, rest areas, and nooks and crannies off the major interstates and highways. There are a ton of them out there. But you got to know where to look. A lot of people don't look at their satellite maps when they're looking for these places. When I look for them, I look for them away from the interstate, on 2 lane roads away from city centers. I also look for backup places along the route just in case an incident does happen. Because you're right, they do happen. But a lot of people do not take this into account when they trip plan. People need to hear this I'm sorry. You may not want to hear it, but there are other people that need to hear it. Making a backup plan is always a good idea. And most people don't look for the other places before anticipated end of day either along the route. They're just focused on their end of day where they want to be. And they're not taking everything into consideration. Might take an extra 10 minutes of your time to do this, but believe me it's well worth the extra effort. They have been times where I've actually called ahead to businesses and asked if I could park there. Sometimes they say no and sometimes they say yes. Again this is all part of planning. You can't find a truck stop or a rest area start calling businesses. And about 60% of the time I always get a yes from these local businesses. But I think this is all good information that some people might find useful. And I do agree with you that parking is a serious problem. There needs to be so much more done. But in the meantime, you can't discount comments like mine. I just wish when they put those comments up there they would put suggestions as to what to do like I did with mine.

@george2pak I think most guys are just smart enough to pick up the phone and reschedule their appointment vs complaining on the internet they can't find parking. There are some days I drive 100 miles and others I do 600. Because wherever I'm going, it will be there when I get there. I'm not going to screw myself for some load then go complain on the internet about it. Your the one driving, just stop the truck. It's not difficult.

Exactly! Parking really became a problem with the ELD mandate. They didn't care to address the obvious parking problem that everybody stopping at the same time of day would cause because they were too busy trying to make good on the lobbying money from the mega carriers. Back in the day there were 3 shifts. The ol timers got out early and parked early. The regulars did what they're doing now. And the nite riders struck out after sundown and shut down when the ol timers got started. Now everybody works banker's hours so of course parking is a problem....

Then I ask the judge if I am out of hour what do I go. He said find a legal parking but I would be out of hour. He said u can only park in a legal parking u keep driving til u find one. I told the judge thank u the 1000.00 ticket gave me the answer is wanted. I will never park illegal again. So I will keep driving til I find a legal parking. Thank u. That mean I will keep driving all night cus there is no parking for trucks.

Legal to do that on your 10 hr. Layover unless your Co. doesn’t let you use PC. There is a pilot of Greg rd. North Vegas one off Blue Diamond rd. I live in Las Vegas NV and the biggest problem is that Russians run the brokers and trucks, and it's super rare to find one that pays you for your work. There is thousands of drivers like myself who refuse to work for anyone with a Ukrainian and Russian accent because you work for free. Secondly, the best place to park is Morton's on Loosee and Cheyenne, exit 46. It's free, Scale is 8 dollars and Ormondo has 24 hours security. The worst place to park is Wild West on Tropicana. Besides worrying about the hooker's breaking in your truck, two hooker's recently walked free from self defense for disemboweled a driver who tried scamming the two with 20 dollars for a happy ending. Wild West however is best place to get a Free Show

TA and other places are starting to put up gates to enter their lots and it gives you a ticket to scan to get out. So all parking will be paid parking

I think the federal should be involve with truck parkings. If they don't have money (we would,if we don't send it to other countries) then work out deals with major truck stops, for example, give lands rent free for 5 years, or government ease on taxes on certain areas if they build truck stop. Because it would take decade for official to build anything,but private company would finish is 6 months. Just do something for parkings in this country. It's safer for the truckers, and other people, because we won't have to Illegally find a parking in the middle of the night, or park on somewhere that is illegal.

Las Vegas is actually not bad for parking, I usually find the hole in the wall casinos that let you park there. Never really go to truck stops in Vegas

We need to call all Mayers and ask for availability space to be allocated to truckers. Then the Governor’s for additional Rest Stops not just along interstates but along every 4 lane road at least parking areas that accommodate overnight parking with some roving security

That was my spot ( Wild Wild West ) when I was delivering Tequila every other week. Never had a problem there. That was years ago. I don’t park on shoulders, rest areas or parking areas that are open to highway where these terrible truck drivers can drive into you. I’ll drive to a safe place where I won’t be bothered by anyone or an out of control trucker barreling down the road. I will use personal use to get to a safe spot.

Mortons truck stop on Cheyenne, exit 46. Huge lot, free and nearly always a spot somewhere. Also can park on Colton, the street behind Mortons. Also can always park in the area around the Petro by the speedway. Go down the street behind the fuel islands by Sysco. Can park anywhere on that street.

It's the same in the UK, parking is expensive. £30 or more. I always put it in a layby or industrial estate. And even those fill up after a certain time unless you know special places.

I think that those companies that want to open a new truck stop should plan on parking for at least 300 trucks. The city or county government should not be allowed to protest it.

And then most states are tearing down perfectly fine rest areas turning them into truck parking and giving you outhouses not very hygienic at all

I have a 9am pickup app in Vegas for Saturday morning. I parked 100 miles away. Jersey, NY city, and most of the North East is the same way, minus the sex workers.

You can't drive until you are almost out of drive time before you start planning on a parking place. Plan your day you may have to stop before your hours are of service is used for the day. Parking in Las Vegas? You may have to stop at a casino outside of Las Vegas in the area closer to Hoover Dam. Parking is too expensive to park inside the city of Las Vegas unless you are being well paid for the freight you are hauling? I have saw a few trucks parked along a few streets away from down town near homeless areas. I wouldn't recommend leaving your truck and walking or taxi away from your truck and trailer. Parking in Las Vegas is difficult. Hauling freight to Las Vegas may not be worth the hassle because of the problems with Parking.

Except for one time in my career I've never had to violate HOS to find parking. I usually do pretty good trip planning. I don't park in cities. I usually park on the outskirts at truck stops that are not along the interstate. Those usually you can find parking at. As far as Las Vegas goes, I park East of Henderson at railroad pass on Interstate 11

Never go into cities to find parking because there’s never any and if there was it’s not safe. Always park at least 1 to 1.5 hrs away. Almost always hurts my next load or messes with my hrs.

Parking in Vegas is like parking in New York City. You make your delivery and you get the hell out of here and only park outside of the city if you value your life or your cargo.
