@Zin Bo Tun lmao you'd expect that Filipinos always go for foreign people when they're just like normal people who have a fair sense of romantic perspective and preferences. I also know some SE Asians who find other foreigners as obnoxious and undesirable, and 'self-hating'? Filipinas go for their own kind too, maybe you just don't see it. About the Filipinas wanting to marry Americans, maybe it's just a preference since we have been influenced by that country. Your comment is too exaggerated my bud

"gwapa" would be interpreted as a rare feminine version of the term that is rarely ever used except by cebuanos or other visayans, so in manila, the word might be interpreted as kinda gay if directed at a man. they are both borrowed centuries ago from spanish though, from "guapo"/"guapa"

When meeting an Indonesian and then asks "Are you a Muslim?" It depends from where they came from. Ethnically, if they're Western Indonesians (tech. Javanese, Sumatrans, etc), then there is a pretty high chance that he/she is a Muslim. If they're Eastern Indonesians (tech. Manadonese, Mollucans, Papuans, etc), then there is a pretty high chance that he/she is a Christian or Catholic.

Actually if we narrow down, quality education can solve a lot of problems including corruption... then again, it's poverty right? But is it really the main cause? I do not think so. It is because of people like Cynthia Villar who does not prioritize on what is needed and even categorizes RESEARCH as insignificant. If I look like I'm against you please don't think that. Can I date one of your beautiful sisters, mate? Yes indeed but another reason is that Filipinos were so fond of western culture and we also have (not all but most) average to fluent english speaking skills that gains the foreign’s attention for they (according to them) feel most at home because we can hold an english conversation very well. As for negrito-looking thing i can definitely agree but there are also a lot of ancestors that came across the country way back to pre-historic era but when the Spanish, American and Japanese colonization came to happen our genes were fucked up and modern Filipinos are now mixed-race (almost everyone from the great greatest ancestors).

well, there are some indonesian questioning the guy statements about indonesian are open minded. But in my opinion, we're really open minded even in our past generations. we're just not realized it and i think the close minded people is just minority but their voices are so loud so we might think most of us are close minded because of them, or maybe some of people just shock for the new things and questioning them, but not for a while they will used to it. and make a note, imo, open minded isn't just liberalism and westernized, u can be conservative and traditional but still open minded at the same time. the key of open minded for me is respect. cmiiw

how does she know he's 100% Filipino. lol, historically the word "Filipino" actually even only meant pure born Spaniard born in the Philippines. in Spanish colonial times, the urban dwelling population were usually composed of Mestizos, specifically mostly Mestizo de Sangley which were colonial era Chinese-Filipino mestizos, and sometimes there were Mestizo de Español too which were Spanish-Filipino mestizos, and sometimes rarely there were Japanese-Chinese Filipino mestizos too or even Indian-Filipinos but centuries later today, families do not keep track of these so the common filipino would not 100% know for sure if someone is supposedly 100% Filipino lol. thats like saying one is 100% American hahahahahaha

As an indonesian, I would say that what makes us unique is that most of us don't raise our kids to move out of the country. It's very rare that parents raise their kids to someday move out of the country. It is a common thing for parents to school their kids abroad so that they can go back home and build this country even better. That's why Indonesia has been experiencing outstanding growth recently.

Studying your children abroad and then they go back to their country of origin in order to make it better 😊 hayyyyy......IF this is happening on a larger scale in my country, we could have had something similar but NO.....the common attitudes here are a lot more cynical...you wanna be cynical about our sad state of affairs fine BUT you should use your cynicism to improve things yourself when no one is/are willing to help you do something than can actually be beneficial in the long term

0:49 It's surprising for me as an Indonesian. Indonesians rarely encourage their children to go out of the country to get a job. Some might go out because of economic pressure, but it's never encouraged to. Which is why despite ranked fourth in term of population, Indonesia has a really low emigrations rate. Because most who had gone out of the country will eventually return out of love, back to the nest where their souls feel at home. We have a saying here. "Hujan batu di negeri sendiri masih lebih baik daripada hujan emas di negeri orang" which translates to "Rain of stones in your own country (Indonesia) is still better than rain of gold in another country." I got to admit the nesting instinct for Indonesians are really strong. I got really frustrated if I'm gone too long outside my own hometown. It's fun venturing, but ultimately your home is the best place to lay rest. Many successful Indonesians would choose to return to Indonesia if given the chance rather than staying overseas.

mmm…depends on what level you are. RN’s and obviously NP’s make bank, but anything other than those two specifically is pathetic, a McDonald’s manager makes more depending on their years with the company. Also, even if it was, it doesn’t make forcing your kids into a profession they don’t want for money right. I’m encouraging kids with these circumstances to ditch their parents, make their “get rich quick through working my kids” scheme backfire on them 😃 That’s right, ditch your parents and let them starve/become homeless; you earned that money not them. By the way, the answer is NO, no child owes their parents anything; the child didn’t ask to be brought into this world, the parents made that choice for them. The parents owe them EVERYTHING, the child owes them nothing. So yeah, easy money? Maybe. But if so, ditch your parents; you weren’t their children, you were their farm animal. How can I say that? Dictating how you labor, how you mate, and how you reproduce? Yeah that’s not someone treating you like a person, you are a farm animal, and anyone in these circumstances deserved better. To all filipinos forced into healthcare, ditch your parents, let them earn that income on their damn own; let them see how “easy” it is.

Funny how we Filipinos love to be associated with Latin Americans and Spaniards more than our Asian neighbors, but in reality we relate more to the ASEAN neighbors. Even in this video, if without putting labels, it's easy to mistake that they're all just one ethnicity with a varying little admixture. Just because we're Spanish-influenced in many aspects, it never really stripped our essential Asian traits. I find these neighbors actually more relatable as a whole.

Most regions of the Philippines have Hispanic sounding names. From what I know in Indonesia, there's one notable painter in Bali, Antonio Maria Blanco, who was born in the US-occupied Philippines, of Spanish and Latin American descent, who then married a Balinese dancer. Upon his death, he was cremated under Hindu rituals. His children and grandchildren effectively carry his surname. I call this format of Asian with Hispanic or Southern European surname format 4. Some indigenous peoples have format 3: Western Name, localized surname. Just giving some examples here: Raymundo Dulnuan (Ifugao), Segismundo Balawag (Subanen), Paula Cunanan (Kapampangan), Diosdado Macapagal (Kapampangan, probably with distant mixed Melayu Brunei and Dayak descent from the House of Bolkiah, if the descent from Lakan Dula is proven), Robert Tupas (Cebuano Visayan, probably mixed with Chola Tamil and Melayu Palembang descent, if the legend of Sri Rajahmuda Lumaya is proven), Mark Agbayani (Ilokano), Lourdes Aranal (mixed Tausug and Tagalog descent) Some ethnic groups in Mindanao share formats 1 and 2: Rashmin Rasul (Tausug), Suharto Mangudadatu (Magindanau) Those with format 1 are likely of Yemeni Arabic, Pakistani, or Indonesian descent: Adam al-Baitam Some even mix formats 2 and 3: Antonia Laksamana (Tagalog / Kapampangan), Damiana Galura (Kapampangan form of Garuda) There's even a mixed format of formats 1 and 4: Sitti Navarro (mixed Jama Mapun and Manileño descent) Another is the Western name Chinese surname format (or Sinospheric surname, where Korean and Vietnamese fall under) or format 5, common all over the Chinese communities around the world, or with anyone of Chinese descent: Ryan Tiu, Chloe Pang, Samuel Tan, Thomas Yap, Elizabeth Tam, Daniel Kwok (HK Cantonese), Jane Cho (Korean), Ezekiel Lan (Vietnamese) Format 6, Foreign surnames, where the North Indian, Japanese, and other European surnames outside Southern Europe fall under: Samira Gogna (North Indian), Janet Hirayama (Japanese), Margaret Fischer (German or sometimes English) Practically every Filipino has a surname by legal requirement...

One time when a friend found out that I'm Filipina he asked me if I could sing. I lied and said no. Truth is, I have a pretty good singing voice. 😂 My family somewhat meets the stereotype of Filipinas being nurses. I have aunts who are nurses. My mom is a patient care assistant. And I'm the only one out of my sisters who doesn't work in the medical field. At one point I was studying to be a nurse, partly because it's what my mom wanted, but then decided to change career goals because my heart wasn't into nursing.
