I deleted my Facebook in response. I’m also cancelling Amazon Prime, and will only purchase on Amazon as a last resort for things I truly need that I can’t purchase locally. It’s impossible to disentangle completely from supporting these immoral billionaires, but I’m going to do it in every way I can.

I order from other companies online and not through Amazon as much as I can. Doesn't matter if its not local I can avoid Amazon. I have only had Amazon Prime for "30 days Free" then cancel. Some like Prime for the music and video streams, I get that. But so many alternatives

I've already deleted all of my social media apps and deleted my profile from X months ago. I opened a Bluesky profile, although I haven't used it admittedly. I only use KZbin for videos now where I can see educational and fact-based content. I found myself in a really dark headspace: horrified at what our future might look like, aggravated at the lies being spread, and depressed at seeing previously rational people having their brains hijacked by right-wing disinformation and propaganda campaigns. None of those sites add anything positive to my life and drain the precious energy I need to fight back and resist the MAGA Administration in my community. Just reading comment sections on news articles makes me see just how delusional people have become. Engaging with them to try and have them look at reality is like playing whack-a-mole; I refuse to stoop to the level of depravity that has infected far too many people on social media apps.

“Facebook is for old people”. Is what my teenagers tell me. But they have a point. Facebook is nearly entirely Gen X and boomers. There are some millennials, and very few Gen Z. Besides bending the knee and kissing the ring, Zuch seems to think that he can attract users. But he’s not going to get any new users just bot and trolls, who already run rampant. Progressive and liberal and moderate/centrist we’re already frustrated with what’s been happening to Facebook, and I’m watching tons of people in my feed deciding to just leave. Zuch wants to run Facebook like the cesspool that used to be known as Twitter, and he’s going to create a cesspool just like X.

More & more, day by day I am closer to shutting down my FB acct; especially w/the encouragement of people I trust, like you, Leigh. What’s interesting is I find that some friends that are more socially aware and care about the environment and a small footprint.
