There is a human instinct that instigates you to breed so you have someone caring for you at old age as you did them when young. Otherwise many people would stop having kids and only focus on themselves and humanity would end. Some(many) parents though are douches, who control every detail of your life or abuse you and then expect pay back in what remains of your life. So they could own every moment of it.
