I think the mom died in his imagination as sort of a reversal technique to comfort him, now hear me out: One of his original memories is of his mom talking about fighting time by creating a masterpiece, so that it can outlive you. He finds out he's going to die very young, before he's had the chance to make a masterpiece. Well, in his idealized life, his mom dies without her work making it big, but he goes on to bring her work to the spotlight. It maybe mirrors the hope he has that, despite dying before he can make a lasting impression on the world, the others in his life will go on to carry his legacy. Where for most of his life his mother is trying to place her hopes for achievement in him, in the end he places his hopes of achievement in her.

1:07:23 Man, it's very gut wrenching when Benny's father asked him one last time to play the piano of his mom's piece to bring them back together. As we see/hear her leaving the room, she is in so much pain, crying a lot. Seeing it, I know it gave her some peace to hear her work played again by her beloved son one last time; it gave them hope. It's just a kick in the heart, such a powerful scene in which I cried a lot before the final scene.

There are so many symbolisms in this game: The agave was brought up early, saying it has to die so a tree can grow in its place. You the player were already foreshadowed, but little did we realize that you are the agave, and the lesson of the game is the tree that will bloom once you finished it. The cat with one eye from the beginning, I speculate that her missing eye is the eye of judgment from the cat goddess in the end. Also, the cat goddess was also foreshadowed by the history teacher when you were in school, but you may not notice it because of how boring the teacher explains it, like how many schools teach these days. The metronome, apart from being a game mechanic, is a symbol of a rapid changing of pace and the intensity of your life moving forward, and oftentimes, you'll feel lost in the music and be called for being off tune, which is also true in our lives. When we feel overwhelmed, we will be thrown off by challenges in our lives. The idea of blinking is a very good mechanic, but also, it is a symbol of the saying "time flies in a blink of an eye", and even there are moments that we want to stay in certain moments of the story, we can't because of how involuntary our blinks are. We all want to stay on some of the most important moments of our lives, but time has to move forward, and years will go by and we will be reminiscing the days that flew by, full of regrets and questions, more specifically, "What if?" Art is something only you can work, and no other individual can reproduce it. And like all pieces of art, we all to start on a blank canvass. The child passed away without ever fully realizing what his life would be, essentially living a somewhat blank life. And so, the remaining empty spaces were filled with a false life of an artist, claiming that he became famous and lived a struggling but fulfilling life, even if it's a comforting lie he told himself, and to us. There would come a time that we might find our lives to be dull and unsatisfactory, so we might be tempted to add glittering yet false or slightly misleading details to make it more pleasing for others to see. There are other details that I might be missing, but I'm pretty sure we all have our own version of how we see things about this game. But I'm also sure we can agree that this is a good game.

I don't regret experiencing this video. It's been a while since I've had a good hard cry so, I guess I needed it. It's not like I can really relate too hard to anything in this story, but my dad passed away 1.5 years ago, and crying over this kinda spiraled into a grief session. I guess if anyone's reading this, it's okay to cry, it will never not hurt and it will never get easier... there will just be longer breaks in between. And that's ok. Because you'll be ok.
