fast fashion also heavily contributes to our landfills in the U.S. some 13% of landfill waste are textiles. not only is it a waste of money, it’s ruining our environment, and it’s usually made unethically. good on you for choosing not to contribute.

I've been shopping secondhand for awhile now and found that when I go to the mall nothing interests me. Or I will see an expensive basic item and think "I can get that at Goodwill for a third of the price." Honestly everyone should thrift. You get great deals, you're helping the environment, and your wardrobe will have unique items in it that will make you stand out.
@samesparza59316 жыл бұрын
PeacefulAntelopes amen sister!!! I’m at that point now where almost my entire wardrobe is thrifted. It makes me very happy that you’re able to have such a unique style with the help of having secondhand clothing that nobody else really has. It’s just a shame that some people look down upon thrifting for “poor people” or just a bad rep in general and it’s really not like that all :(
@gothclown90136 жыл бұрын
i would love to get into thrifting, but thrifting in germany just isn't like it is in the us (it seems). most of the clothes are being sold to almost the original price, and also i just never find anything in my size. most of the clothes are sizes S and M, and when i find something in L it looks like someone just raided their grandmas closet for clothes to donate
@hannahcawley68226 жыл бұрын
yeah, it's weird because I would actually prefer to thrift clothes than actually buy them, but in the uk and basically anywhere outside of the us you don't get secondhand clothes in the same volume or anywhere near the price :(
@PeacefulAntelopes6 жыл бұрын
I didn't realize how disappointing it was to thrift in different countries. :( There are some other ways you can secondhand shop, like going to yard sales, flea markets, or using sites like depop.

The reason I hate shopping so much (besides the fact that I was horribly insecure in the past) is that either everything is not my style or I find something that I like but its so damn expensive. I also get stressed walking for hours around shops but I go shopping with my mom like 5 times a year and we always buy like 3 things. I wanted to go thrifting for quite some time but I was always lazy and insecure so now that I lost weight and I feel more confident,Im going to reform my wardrobe with some unique thrifted pieces.

Open the “fish tail” a little more, by that I mean make the slits higher. I did that with a similar cut and I really love it.

I'd recommend either cutting and hemming that dress, or adding triangles of a fabric that complement the floral in some way and sewing those into the slits

Thrifting is life. There's a second hand store in my city that literally has over 350+ dvds at any given time for a buck fifty! I rarely have time to watch them, but I've collected so many nature documentary dvds from there!

You're one of the people who inspired me to start looking for clothes second hand (I mostly use eBay) and although I still buy the odd new thing, buying second hand and thrifting has made it so much easier to resist the temptation because buying something for £10+ seems crazy to me now when I can find similar stuff on eBay for much less! I've even had a few occasions where I saw something in the shop that I put off buying and then managed to find it months later on ebay for better than half price :D So thanks for inspiring me to get into thrifting, it's saved me a lot of money and has made buying clothes quite fun!

Hey since you’re reducing your waste by cutting out most fast fashion, you could further help that by using reusable bags instead of getting the plastic ones from thrift stores. I usually pick mine up from grocery stores for like a dollar or two

I'm going thrifting about 2-3 years, and here there are daily prices, so every day it's getting cheaper, until basically it doesn't have price at all (when it would go free, the clothes go into recycling, so it will never be free, but it gets cheap). I'm living in a country, which doesn't considered a rich one, and I would like to do something for nature too (less garbage). I usually go to buy things at friday, when the price is around 1 US Dollar (0,76). It feels like going on an adventure like in the moviesto find some treasure :D
