There are some Affinity Photo macros I made that I use in all of my retouching work. Feel free to use them! They should work for Affinity Photo version 1 and 2.

Hi Ben, Thanks for putting these very useful Macros together. I have created Macros for exporting my images for printing but was going to do something for my portrait retouching and came across your video here. I like these that you put together that will simplify my portrait work. THANK YOU! , - Richard BTW, all your videos are informative and great instructional aides.

Nice to see your Macros. I do use my own set of macros, with another context. One set is named Correction, with all the tools to correct luminosity and colour... as I shot it. The second one is creative where I will push my luminosity and colour to get my style of image. I do have a clean layer too, but you showed me a way better version and I understand how you use it. I think I'll nuild my own too ! finally I have a "horizontal" vignette that I use for landscape. It adds 2 gradient layers with curves. Thanks for showing them !

Those are some really good ideas! I like the idea of a tweakable vignette macro. Great for some final touches. I might try making one. I also often use a gradient layer with either exposure, brightness and contrast, or curves. They surprising all look a little different!

agree ! my "horizontal" vignette are quite flexible. one curve at the top, one at the bottom and for each a gradient layer as mask. But, they are in fact rectangle filled with a gradient. So even gradient is very flexible without losing sharpness of a pixel layer. Obviously you can also rotate them any angle you like, not only horizontal 👌🏼

@olivierparlephoto that’s a really clever idea. One trick I’ve been doing for a vignette is to: Make a curve or expose adjustment layer. Put it in a group (it will be by itself.) then use the elliptical tool to create a filled ellipse shape (any color.) Then put that shape in the group, BELOW the adjustment layer. Then set the shape to erase blend mode. It should cut out the shape from the curve adjustment layer, acting like a mask. You can then add a Gaussian blur effect in the layer effects tab to blur the edges. Cool thing is because it’s a shape you can adjust the size on the fly.

Always appreciate the kind words brother! Glad to hear they have been working out for you! Using I’ll first use the inpainting tool to get rid of any red veins, then I’ll usually just dodge them a little. But just a little. Enough to make them stand out a little more, but not too much where it looks fake like their eyes are glowing. lol Sometimes I’ll use the brush tool to paint a little off white color in the eyes, to even them out a little.

Thank you for these. I have been meaning to try and manually recreate actions that i normally use in Ps. This will be a huge help. I found even when trying to create my own action, when i make the blur radius visible during the run process, the FS preview doesn't show. When the blur slider is adjusted it does reflect on screen. Anyone else experiencing that and found away around it?

You’re very welcome! I’m not sure if I’ve come across that issue. But, I know that sometimes you have to do things in a weird order when recording your macros, or they don’t work correctly. I think about a year or two ago, I made a video showing how I record and set up one of these macros. Although I don’t show how I made the FS is think. I can’t remember. Here is the video if you wanna check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6DJpWajgq1ggrc

Excellent! Are there ways to do macros for the painterly look?
@brgphotography
@brgphotography 7 ай бұрын
Hi there! I assume you mean like using the filters? I’m sure you can. You would just have to record them yourself. I made a video explaining how to make and record your own macro so you can get them to do exactly what you want. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6DJpWajgq1ggrc It might take a little trial and error, but you should be able to record filter settings, to get your desired look.
