ry something new for 30 days (Transcrição) A few years ago, I felt like I was stuck in a rut, so I decided to follow in the footsteps of the great American philosopher, Morgan Spurlock, and try something new for 30 days. The idea is actually pretty simple. Think about something you’ve always wanted to add to your life and try it for the next 30 days. It turns out 30 days is just about the right amount of time to add a new habit or subtract a habit - like watching the news - from your life. There’s a few things that I learned while doing these 30-day challenges. The first was, instead of the months flying by, forgotten, the time was much more memorable. This was part of a challenge I did to take a picture every day for a month. And I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing that day. I also noticed that as I started to do more and harder 30-day challenges, my self-confidence grew. I went from desk-dwelling computer nerd to the kind of guy who bikes to work. For fun! Even last year, I ended up hiking up Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. I would never have been that adventurous before I started my 30-day challenges. I also figured out that if you really want something badly enough, you can do anything for 30 days. Have you ever wanted to write a novel? Every November, tens of thousands of people try to write their own 50,000-word novel, from scratch, in 30 days. It turns out, all you have to do is write 1,667 words a day for a month. So I did. By the way, the secret is not to go to sleep until you’ve written your words for the day. You might be sleep-deprived, but you’ll finish your novel. Now is my book the next great American novel? No. I wrote it in a month. It’s awful. But for the rest of my life, if I meet John Hodgman at a TED party, I don’t have to say, “I’m a computer scientist.” No, no, if I want to, I can say, “I’m a novelist.” So here’s one last thing I’d like to mention. I learned that when I made small, sustainable changes, things I could keep doing, they were more likely to stick. There’s nothing wrong with big, crazy challenges. In fact, they’re a ton of fun. But they’re less likely to stick. When I gave up sugar for 30 days, day 31 looked like this. So here’s my question to you: What are you waiting for? I guarantee you the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot! For the next 30 days. Thanks

It is true that this talk is concise and energetic for listeners to start the first 30-day trial, but there is less support and deep explanation inside. Thank you, Matt Cutts, for sharing an invaluable method to reach our goals within 30 days. Your session has taught me three essential lessons that I will carry with me: Set a Clear Target: The first step towards success is to decide on a specific and achievable target. By clearly defining what I want to accomplish, I can stay focused and motivated throughout the 30-day journey. Create a Comprehensive 30-Day Plan: Planning is key to staying on track and making steady progress. Breaking down the larger goal into smaller, manageable tasks for each day ensures that I have a structured approach and know exactly what needs to be done to reach my target. Stay Committed and Persistent: Your advice to remain dedicated and not rest until completing the daily tasks is a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance. By maintaining unwavering commitment, I can overcome obstacles and stay determined to succeed. Once again, thank you for these valuable insights, Matt Cutts. I am eager to put them into practice and work towards achieving my goals efficiently and effectively in the next 30 days and beyond.

Just checked this video, and Matt Cutts' idea of trying something new for 30 days really resonated with me. It's amazing how those small, intentional changes can add so much value to our lives. Recently, I've been stuck in the same old routine, and this 30-day challenge concept feels like the refreshing change I need. I've decided to start with a daily photo challenge. Inspired by Matt's experience of making time more memorable, I'm enthusiastic about creating my visual diary of moments and experiences. Let's see where this journey takes me! 📸

In this TED talk, Matt Cutts introduces some advantages of trying something new for 30 days. He decided to follow in the footsteps of the Great American philosopher Morgan Spurlock and try something new for 30 days. The idea is actually pretty simple: you should think about something you've always wanted to add to your life and try it for the next 30 days. It turns out that "30 days" is just about the right amount of time to add a new habit. He also noticed that as he started to do more and harder 30-day challenges, his self-confidence grew, and he also figured out that if someone really wants something badly enough, he/she can do anything for 30 days. For example, Matt Cutts wrote a novel for 30 days, and he said that his habit gave him an opportunity to introduce himself not only as a computer scientist but also as a novelist. But we have some disadvantages here as well. For example, he also mentioned that the novel he has written can't be considered a great one and is awful because it was written in 30 days. So why do we need to start trying something new if there is an excellent likelihood of failing because of a short time? Another disadvantage could be the pressure to commit to a new activity for the entire 30 days, even if it's causing discomfort or doesn't feel right for you. This could lead to feelings of guilt or failure if you're unable to follow through, potentially discouraging future attempts at trying new things.

I watched Matt Cutt's performance and I know what his main idea is. The young man suggests trying to do something for 30 days. For example, ride a bike to work every day, or walk 10,000 steps every day, or something else. As I understand it, this young man even offers to write a novel in a month. It is interesting. You can ask me what I think about it. First of all, I like the idea of doing something new. For example, to give up bad habits, such as smoking or a sedentary lifestyle. Secondly, I've been doing it myself for a long time. For example, every day I learn English, walk 8000 steps with my smartphone and play chess. But the novel I've not written yet, I will must try it (it was of course a joke). And finally, I really think that you should always do something useful. In my opinion, it's just more interesting to live!

Planning to do something for 30 days is really a difficult thing. On the first day, everything can be in order. But on the second day, your mind begins to be lazy. In fact, I have made several attempts at the 30-day trial before. This has always been a three day trial. I would like my mind to become more busy after watching this.

Don't think of it as having to do it for thirty days. That's not the point. It's not supposed to be a schedule, at one time, every single day for thirty days. It's for you to consider going, what if I try this? What if I did this? Start off small like he said. Maybe ride your bike or read your book for thirty minutes every day, and slowly create bigger pieces of that.

The idea of this video was well executed, and it's a little disappointing how many people aren't catching on. I've read at least eight comments say it's now working, or it's not a good video? The video is meant to show a motivational push. He's giving evidence that it works, to create this part in you that says, if he can do it, I can do it. And you probably will do it. It's not a schedule, don't force yourself to do it, just act on it. Want to start a personal journal? Write a sentence every day!

I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer. I use this TED Talk, my favorite, for university ESL classes in Japan. I understand and love the Morgan Spurlock reference, but I do not understand the John Hogdman reference. I am out of touch with American culture, which may be why this is over my head. Why is John Hogdman mentioned? I wish I could explain it to my students. Your insight would be much appreciated!
