As a black man this song isn’t racist it’s a song of pride and how insanity and chaos isn’t going to happen in small towns where family values and American values reign supreme. I agree with this song! It’s funny how they try to label things and try to bring black people into this by saying it’s racist. Can’t play that card on me anymore. Those days are over.

He pointed out the worse things about those protests not the loitering and protesting in itself. He speaks a truth, I live in a small town its a bit of a melting pot, and we would definitely take care of our own here. Someone tries to rob the liquor store that serves everyone in the town they're not going to stand for it, someone car Jack's an old lady that old lady probably has family and is known by many in the town and people wouldn't stand for that. That should be the same anywhere not just small towns. However that is the very clear message and sentiment I get from the song.

Thank you for sharing! My father came to this country from Italy, by himself, at 15 years old in 1955. He eventually ended up in a small town in Tennessee where he met my mom, and raised my brothers and I. He always told us that this was the greatest country in the world, and to never forget it. In a town that consists of blacks and whites, my father and the family he raised there NEVER felt out of place, or like we didn’t belong. In fact, my dad quickly adapted to southern culture and loved everything about it. Including his 2A and hunting. (I know that’s not just a southern thing) I don’t have a family of my own, but I still live in the same town and wouldn’t trade it for any other place in the world. 🇺🇸

You rock Jason!! Unfortunately, so many people get offended about everything these days. Everyone tries to make it about color when it's not. He is just saying that what goes on in the big city is not tolerated in small towns. In small towns, we do take care of our neighbors no matter the color!! Everyone is an American. I believe that it's a respect issue. The younger generation does not respect anyone in a big city or a small town. Jason is just speaking 100% the truth. We, as a whole, need to be better for the greater good. Love is not colored blind. everyone is equal. Why is that so hard to understand?

I think something that gets overlooked with this song is that in a small town or even in a tight knit section of a larger town, we all know each other and respect each other. If you were to spit on a cop in a small town, that cop is our neighbor, goes to our church. And that car that gets torched was so in so's daughter who worked for it at the local drive in diner and she needs her car to get to work, saving for college. And that liquor store owner you were trying to rob, is our friend that works hard and donates big to our local fund raisers. It's not racist at all, but that's what the pot stirrers want you to think. Just another attempt to pit Americans against other Americans. I think we all get it and we should all reject the nonsense. It's really all of us against these people who are trying to manipulate us. We are stronger together. Thanks for your thoughtful insight on this video.

@@Collins311 Because in a 3 minute video you could only pick a small amount. Jan. 6 would only account for .01% of video of riots. The other 99.99% would be antifa/blm. Jan. 6 had no firebombs, lighting shit on fire, huge lines of cops pushing back, in fact, some cops escorted people around inside the capitol. Wonder why they won't release all that J6 footage?or why there were over 40 undercover feds egging people on? or why Pelosi and the DC cops declined National Guard help for crowd control then filming herself hoping Trump would try something except he did the opposite and told people to stay peaceful then to go home when shit started.

It’s something that’s being hurt. These small towns have history like this country. We work for what we have. We have pride in the flag and those that have died for it. Thank you for being so mature about this. There's a lot of people that are offended or maybe angry...because, and mind you, I live in Missouri and the events that happened in Ferguson are still fresh in the minds of those involved. So, it's easy to take something like this, if you're in the heart of a fight that made people tear apart their own city, small businesses, blocking highways and protests that weren't all that peaceful. When you lose someone in your community and it seems like there's no justice for the criminal, because hey, no matter how well liked, or how you did in school, things like that....and you choose to commit a crime. You made a choice to invite the police into your life. They didn't select the criminal at random. In the city, as a gangster, it's kill or be killed...(I'm guessing) but it's the same for an officer every time he goes to work. In a small town, everyone knows each other. It's not a fight for survival, it's more.." it takes a village" and people work together in the pot luck of life, as opposed to say one person hoarding life's essentials and guarding them with no interest in sharing the wealth if you will. You're raised to say yes ma'am and no ma'am and respect your elders and if you don't follow those morals, you're gonna get your a$$ whooped for being disrespectful. It is what it is...but noone in a small town is gonna go busting through small businesses and destroying their own home because Billy Bob screwed up. That's on him, and his choices, and he'll be dealt with accordingly. This song is American Pride....FAFO. It's a no trespassing sign for the selfish angry mobs. Stay humble people, check on your neighbors, make sure they're okay.... Don't like it, don't listen to it. ✌️🇺🇲 SMALL-TOWN

Jason Aldean's song "Try That in a Small Town" has been controversial for a number of reasons. * The song's lyrics have been criticized for promoting violence and vigilantism. In the song, Aldean sings about people who "take care of their own" in small towns, and that if you "try that" in a small town, you "won't make it down the road." Some critics have interpreted these lyrics as a threat of violence against people who don't conform to the norms of small-town life. * The song's video has also been criticized for its use of footage of protests and riots. The video shows footage of protests, riots, and police confrontations, some of which took place during Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Some critics have said that the video is insensitive to the Black community and that it promotes the idea that Black people are violent and dangerous. * Aldean has also been criticized for his own comments about the song. In an interview, Aldean said that the song is about "the divide between people in cities and rural areas." Some critics have said that this comment is itself evidence of Aldean's own bias against urban areas and people of color. As a result of the controversy, CMT has announced that it will no longer air the music video for "Try That in a Small Town." Aldean has defended the song, saying that it is not about race or violence and that it is simply about "the values of small-town America." The controversy surrounding "Try That in a Small Town" highlights the deep divisions in American society. The song has been praised by some for its celebration of small-town values, while it has been criticized by others for its promotion of violence and intolerance. The controversy is likely to continue for some time, as it reflects the ongoing debate about the role of race and violence in American culture.

My small town isn’t racist but if you act rude or disrespectful then no it won’t work. They will tell you move back to the city. They want everyone to feel lonely and divided that’s what canceling this song is about. I’m offended those complaining about this song 🎶 are saying I can’t live in a small town but only the city? I love my small town the one I grew up in and the one I currently reside in. To me it’s about country person vs city person and zero to do with color.

The song is pointing out the difference in values that people have. This is the major issue facing America, see it on the news, in online content, in the political process, pretty much everyday life. Having a core value of pride in one's beliefs is both empowering and stabilizing in society. Too many are missing the bus where their quality of life is at stake in that they give others too much control as to what and how feel about this and that. IT IS YOUR LIFE....LIVE TO BE HAPPY, HELPFUL, AND AT PEACE. All the rest is just someone else's BS. Your choice .... live as you wish.

Jason Aldean song is controversial but one with justification of anger of our crime in our inner cities and small towns as well. We have the higher crime rate we have now thanks to our current administration ! In our small town we all look out for each other and it's about having each other's backs and we need that more around the world for all cultural and all people. We all are the human race and we all are brothers and sisters. We need love not hate but also accountability. I support Jason Aldean in his efforts because he is just stating we have to stand up against crime of all kinds and protect our neighbors and families. We need to build a world of opportunities for everyone so circumstance don't lead to bad choices and outcomes and everyohad the same opportunity to build better lives for themselves and everyone around them. Together we are stronger than against each other. The song represents just protecting your community so our children can grow up safe and everyone who works hard to start a small business no harm will come of them. We need more opportunities in every where. Our inner cities and our small towns need to build more programs to lift everyone out of troubled lifestyles and to build productive lives and communities. Crime and hate need to stop now! Thanks for reading everyone! God Bless you all!

The majority of rural county deaths come from suicides. Drug overdoses, low standard of living and limited jobs.

Even here in Los Angeles we can remember decades ago when riots happened.... Korea Town and the rooftop boys. Also a couple of years ago in the riots... When the mob advanced to hit Van Nuys they stopped on their tracks and did a U turn.... Why? Well, the neighbors standing with their tools ( if you know what i mean) outside their business and buildings... White, black, hispanic, Arminian and Asian brothers and sisters standing shoulder to shoulder... also another interesting thing happened. The days following the riots many of the anti gun people that I know were standing in line to get in the local armories to try to buy their first one... Just saying.

I knew people in the city that didn’t know their next door neighbor. I was raised in a VERY rural area. Everybody knows everybody and we look out for each other so riots like we seen in 2020 where whole neighborhoods and business districts were burnt won’t happen out here because we would band together

The demand for racism is significantly higher than the supply~ things are getting better but modern kids want to be warriors when its time for diplomats .... but protesting is an important constitutional right, rioing, looting and violence are crimes, illegal. The lost of resources, they influx of housing impaired since 2019 has been wild

Love your reaction! You are one of the very few who picked up on the fact that the second verse is about gun confiscation, not "inciting violence."

It's not against protesting. It's against acts of violence and sometimes those happen during protests. The lyrics specifically mention certain acts of violence. Unfortunately those acts occur in cities, not small towns.

I feel the song is basically saying that not of that won't fly in a small town because the town's people in the community won't put up with it and stand against it. In the city people just let it happen usually.

People are saying it is about lynching black people and small town country racism. They are nuts. Only people who don't have love for who, and what they are, and who they are willing to protect and by what means think that. Just cause the rest of the world is going nuts you, we, (small town) don't have to. But some people lose sight of the forest through the trees.

Honestly the problem with the song is not racism or promotion of violence, the people who cry foul about the song cant stand the message of the song. The song exposes the dichotomy of American life. In big cities people just dont care about one another the way the people in small towns do, most people living in big cities dont even know their neighbors nor will they lift a finger to help one another. In small towns everyone knows everyone else and will help each other out, and the small town folks will viciously defend one another. This song exposes this and the powers that be DO NOT LIKE IT, the powers that be make their money off of that divide and do not want city folks to know that things do not have to be this way and that there is another way of living.
