My home economics teacher (remember them?) taught this piecing method for 4-patches, back in the day. I still have the pin cushion I made (about 40 years ago!) from two of them.

I love this pattern!!! Howe, when telling people to lower their stitch length from a 2 to a 1.5 is fine, but if your normal stitch length is 1.5 is it really necessary to lower it to a 1.2? A stitch length of 2.0 to 1.5 should work for anyone.
@FatQuarterShopTX Жыл бұрын
Hello Sherry! A 1.5 is fine. We try not to assume what stitch length everyone uses so when Kimberly says that it is a generalization.

Kimberly, if I purchase the kit (registration for when it comes out in July) am I correct that all I’d need extra to complete the quilt for making it would be a Bella solid and the backing that is suggested for the kit? Everything else comes in the kit? Correct? If so what’s the Bella solid you used?

Do you recommend starching fabric before or after you cut? I worked on a quilt where I starched and my blocks did not square up. I had some blocks that shrunk almost half an inch. Not sure if my error was in starching before or after cutting. I assume that is what caused the shrinking of my fabric. Or am I using too much starch? Help :-(
@FatQuarterShopTX2 жыл бұрын
Hello FireflyDreams*! We recommend starching before you cut your fabric. Starching does cause fabric to shrink but it also helps Kimberly make more accurate cuts.

@@FatQuarterShopTX Did she use 2 charm packs to adjust for shrinkage?
@moogiepet2 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure she used yardage and starched. Her fabric is too stiff to be a non-starched charm pack… and it wasn’t shrank in one direction. The pinked edges disappeared 😂

Hello moogiepet! Kimberly starched the fabric from the kit which includes a charm pack and yardage. bit.ly/3OZTiaS And she trimmed off the pinked edges.
