Gee, you’ve quite uncreatively re-invented the potato pancakes people have been cooking for centuries. You must be so proud! Next time, add some onion like they’ve been doing for centuries in Eastern Europe.

I'm a chef and I wonder what kind of carcinogens you are releasing into the oil and into your food by COOKING the parchment paper? Its chemically altered to become as parchment. I, for one, would NEVER cook the parchment paper, but rather ALWAYS remove it BEFORE cooking. Its easy enough to chill or flash freeze the potato patties to hold them together, else add an emulsifier before chilling to do the same in less time, such as dried WHOLE milk powder amongst many others without having to cook chemically altered paper onto/into your food.

Sorry but what you say doesn't make sense, baking paper exists to be in contact with food during cooking... Baking paper resists temperatures up to 230 °C / 450 °F and is suitable for this purpose, it does not release toxic material otherwise they wouldn't sell it for cooking... So it's perfectly safe both in the oven and for frying, I advise you to do a quick Google search before spreading misinformation.

@@RosarioCooking thank you for your opinion, but do your research as well. "Many wax paper companies use petroleum-based paraffin wax and bleach the paper with chlorine, but some brands, such as If You Care, use unbleached paper and soy wax. Similarly, some parchment papers are treated with TOXUC PFAS or bleached with chlorine."

@@johnnysyak4696 Thank you for the clarification, I will inform myself and pay attention when I buy the baking paper. However, I saw that wax paper is different from baking paper and it's specifically indicated on the package.

@@RosarioCooking yes, wax paper is not the same at all as baking paper, better known as parchment paper, just do beware that companies do indeed use toxic chemicals, even when it comes to food. Ever heard of pesticides? Joke of course because I know you have, or smoked paprika or liquid smoke? All contain carcinogens and in all honesty, I do use them. I shall not lie about that but they are all toxic, point being is that the government will say anything or allow anything depending on, 'their own profit." The USDA even allows rat feces in ground or processed meats IF its in a "small" enough portion to be "insignifiacant," as THEY say. I, on the other hand have a different opinion and would rebut with, "WHY should THAT be allowed at all?" When it comes to rat feces compared to smoke carcinogens, the line should be drawn much BOLDER. Of course, that is another example, true, sorry to say but not entangled into the "paper"thing. Just do be aware, even in parchment/baking paper, there are or MAY be things in there that you want not. Now you can understand where I place my importance on this matter, of course referring to my original post, meaning, why take the chance in the first place? Just remove the paper, now much safer 100% of the time, without THIS book having to be written. Your response to my last message to you is welcomed as you are indeed a class act to respond in that manner as you did. God Bless you and your family.
