00:00 Introduction 03:20 Warm Up Exercise 06:03 Blindfold Exercise 1 08:34 Blindfold Exercise 2 13:10 Blindfold Exercise 3 15:11 Blindfold Exercise 4 These blindfold sessions are really amazing to watch! The exercises were quite fun and tricky :) I think adding in the moves next to the board definitely helps for people like me who are not so great at chess visualisation. Good luck with the Blindfold Simul exhibition. Seeing how amazing you've been performing in these exercises, I'm sure you'll do great!

It seems quite a stretch to imagine I’ll be able to visualise better if I practice blindfold exercises, when so often I can’t see the bleeding obvious when I’m staring at the board with both eyes. But I have faith in Hannah’s method. It seems to be working for her!

I know it may seem difficult initially, but it really does help! The great thing about blindfold chess is that it forces you to think about how each piece interacts with other pieces on the board, and what it does from a certain square. With enough practice, it should become automatic. The crazy thing I found after practicing blindfold chess, was that during my over-the-board classical games, I started finding it easier to calculate when I closed my eyes and visualized everything in my head. This was never the case before! I would start by making sure you know the names of the squares (and the color of each square) super well!

Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed this video, if so feel free to like and subscribe :D. Just a note, we have added some visual cues in the editing (e.g. list of moves) so you can follow on if you are just watching for fun, but if you want to calculate along-side me, try covering them up so you can't see! I couldn't see these moves while I' did these exercises, so try without them if you can. It'll make it a lot more challenging and helpful :D.

I love watching these Collab videos with Aiden. And This blindfold chess is so complicated, it's absolutely astonishing to see that people are able to do this. I hope blindfold chess can help me improve. *Cross fingers*. 😲

don't move until you see it? i guess i won't be moving for a while :,) kidding aside, this was a fun session even if i didn't catch it live. all these blindfold exercises hurt my brain after the first few moves and it's impressive how you and all those other blindfold chess players out there do it. congrats on the game vs Jenny too (even if it didn't make it into this video)! not easy playing blindfolded vs someone who isn't, and you both played well regardless 🙌🏻

Thankyou so much! It was super fun, and I am with you on the brain hurting part lol. I ended up playing 3 blindfold games and was able to win 2/3 but Jenny was too strong :D. I was planning to perhaps make a seperate video for these games later on since they took around 30 mins each!

Really like this visualization training :). For the puzzle at 11:00 my first instinct was re1, but then you said re7 and I couldn't find a response for black. So I asked the engine and re7 is actually the best move! There are tons of moves that win in that position, even random moves like h4 are +5 according to lichess. So I really like the concept but the puzzles themselves were pretty weird

For the puzzle at 12:50, Re7 is also the best move though right? The computer agrees with it too

Hey Hanna, just discovered your channel, brilliant, great materials, and you are wonder of life, I could listen to you all day long :-) question: how did you build up your vizualization skills? I feel as i am getting more and more games under my belt I can vizualize more and more parts of the board, move orders, openings, tactics, and my memory is getting stronger as well, but my brain leaves out the "unimportant" parts of the board. How do you gradually work up the brain muscels? 🧠 ( I mean of course, besides Aidens site)

Thankyou so much for the lovely comment! unfortunately, the answer to this was a lot of practice. I had this same issue where I would focus on the ‘important’ parts of the board and forget about the ‘unimportant’ stuff. But with a lot of practice, it starts to become more engrained. I wish there was a shortcut, do let me know if you find a more efficient method 🥲😊
