Balding for men is like acne for teens. Plays a huge effect on your confidence even though it's so common. Except teenagers mostly grow out of acne. Balding just gets worse over time.
@veebee4405
@veebee4405 4 жыл бұрын
Actually my acne was at its worse when I was 25+, and even though it was just mild-medium, I was obsessed over it and it did affect my confidence. Adult acne is a thing and it's just that much worse that people think it's just a 'teenager thing'.
@Sdfghjk442
@Sdfghjk442 4 жыл бұрын
@@veebee4405 can you not read or comprehend my comment? Do you not understand the word 'mostly'. Of course adult acne is a thing but its FAR less common than teenage acne. Walk around in a public place and then walk around in a high school and you'll see the difference . Adult acne is like teenage balding. It happens but it's quite rare
@veebee4405
@veebee4405 4 жыл бұрын
@@Sdfghjk442 I understand your comment just fine. Perhaps you're the one confused with mine - maybe it's too nuanced for you. I take nothing away from the fact that both balding and teenage acne, though common, as you say, and indeed more common than adult acne, can greatly affect someone's confidence. In that regard, I can empathize with those who are going through it, and never meant to compare those scenarios to adult acne - it's not a competition. My point was that, in regards to acne, which I personally have experienced, I have found having acne as an adult that much more defeating, since it keeps being perpetuated as condition associated with teens - while in fact, it is very prevalent in adults, even if less than in teens. The idea that acne should 'mostly' be associated to teens perpetuates the stigma with adult acne. And in fact, studies have shown that 40-55% of adults between 20-40 years old have acne, and that 54% of women older than 25 have acne. To use your own example, how would you feel if you were a balding teenager and everybody associated baldness with old age? You'd feel worse about being bald than you already felt, right? And then you find out that, in fact, over 50% of men experienced balding during their teenage years (not an actual number and only used for analogy), but it's not widely spoken about, and people continue to say that baldness happens when you're old. You'd prefer people to get educated and know that, in fact, teenage balding occurred much more often than people would expect, or speak of. That's my point.

I think you're right, I honestly never really thought about my hair (until I saw this video). I'm greek and I got my grandmother's hair (she's from Crete, and there people literally have the thickest and fullest heads of hair in all of Greece). But my twin brother (and my dad), unfortunately, got my grandfather's hair, he's 19 and I can already tell that he's losing hair. I always thought he didn't care, cause he doesn't take care of his hair. Now I think maybe he does care, he just doesn't show it?

It's actually true. The more testosterone you have, the faster you lose hair. And, everyone has testosterone. It's just typically men that have more testosterone.
@stevenliang3213
@stevenliang3213 5 жыл бұрын
Bea Badjar : That’s not quite correct. It’s not really testosterone but rather DHT (dihydrotestosterone) that affects the hair follicles on the top of the head. The hair on the side and back are generally resistant to DHT hence why those hairs are harvested for transplant. Some men’s top hair are naturally resistant to DHT. It’s not a matter of more testosterone. It’s a matter of how sensitive are your top hair to DHT.

Yeah the world including me doesn't think any less of Zach for his hair loss, but I get what he's talking about. It's just something he doesn't like about himself. We all don't like something about ourselves. We are all our own worst critics. I had a deviated septum which made my nose look crooked. I never liked the way it looked. I had surgery to correct a chronic sinus problem so I could breathe better and a lucky bonus was that it straightened my nose as well. Which was cool because nose jobs costs thousands. I got mine done for free. If you can change something that results in you feeling better about yourself then you should check it out and once you're fully informed about it and still feel the same then you should do it.

At 11:14, they show the before and after pictures. The lighting is a lot brighter in the before picture. It does not even look like its the same color. They also combed the hair in the after picture in a swirl pattern to block the light from reflecting off of the scalp. I believe in this procedure but I hate it when they do misleading pictures like this. I am an imagery analyst BTW, lol.

I started realizing my hair was showing the first signs of thinning and my hairline receding as early as the age of 20. I ignored it for a while as I still had a full head of hair and could easily style it without needing to hide anything yet. At that point I didn't really believe I was balding anyway. I realized as a couple years passed that I spent more and more time in front of the mirror, looking every which way under the light to see if you could see my scalp. Nobody around me as far as I knew realized it yet or seemed to care, as it was just me hyperfocusing on very minor early signs and some very mild areas of thinning, but it really did a number on my self esteem. By the age of 22 I had some more visible signs of thinning and I just decided to start cutting my hair shorter and shorter, still looking in the mirror and carefully sculpting my hair to patch the thinner spots up, until I buzzed it all off one day out of the blue. It was a shock to my friends and family and we all had a laugh the first night I went out with them but I decided to own it from the beginning, take it as a move of pride, sort of "I'm balding, big deal, I'm doing this before I keep hurting my self-esteem and obsessing over my looks". Honestly? I've been so much happier since. It took time to adjust and to look at my own skull and accept that that was probably the look I'd see for the rest of my life, it did feel like closing a door in some sense, but I accept my big dumpy egg head and I love myself a lot more than I did back then.

Also, his back hair is growing up the back of his neck and connecting with the bottom back of his hairline! I'm SO glad that Zach has a good attitude about this. I think a lot of that is due to Maggie simply not caring if he has a full head of hair, or not. He finally knows he's loved and it's made a HUGE difference in Zach's self-confidence. He's such a sweet little man, and I've grown to love him in a motherly way from afar. Yes, I'm old enough to be his mom. In fact, my only child, a son, is a year or two older than Zach and he's noticing that his hair is thinning.

I rock a balding or shaved head. Its not a bad thing. My hair started falling out at 16. People don't like you or dislike you because of your hair. You may be balding but you got friends, people like you, and accept you the way you are. It may affect you differently but that is how I viewed it. I'm 27 now so I'm not that old but it was worse than this dudes hair when I was 20. I'm sure you are a great person. The hair doesn't matter.
@CL99528
@CL99528 5 жыл бұрын
It could also be that you are in your 20s. You can empathize with how those with the XX chromosome feel about a flat chest or bulbous nose or asian eyelids. I don't think the answer is to turn to surgery like this guy. We only get older, so if you are balding now, take it as a challenge to accept yourself fully & build inner confidence sooner rather than later. You'll be ahead of other guys mentally when their inevitable time comes.

As someone whose first language is not English( Tbh its not even second language) Can I give you an advice ? Stop paying attention to slangs and spl the 'word of the season', you know the word everyone starts using in every sentence. Rather spend your time and energy learning proper grammar, vocabulary and so forth; if you're interested that is.

Spent many nights crying about it. I was single and lonely for a looooong time too, partly because of that. I’ve spent many nights crying about it. The best advice I can give you is to see a good hair doctor before it’s too late. There’s also a doc recommended hair vitamin called nutrafol. I got married last month, to a lovely guy and my biggest worry was how my hair would look in the pictures. Luckily a ton of hair fibre powder and teasing worked like a charm. Chin up, sis.
