In this video I answer one of the most frequently asked questions for beginners; Tryhackme or Hackthebox? I also give recommendation on a path you can take to get you started in cybersecurity with both TryHackme and Hackthebox. I hope your questions are answered and you can continue exploring cybersecurity.

After i watched this video 4 weeks ago, i tried both as an beginner. I say start with THM to start with, and HTB if you want to challenge yourself. But i preffer how the courses are written in HTB. But HTB will let you head bang everything you see in your room, because as an beginner its really hard. And some questions are just werid, i hear that a lot. I use THM trough the week after work, and in the weekends i head bang my desk with HTB 😂.

@@ead3nblvck938 yeah, dont waste to much time on it. Just search it after some time, but try to understand the answer if you where not in the right direction. Don't waste to many time on things like this, you cannot learn everything 100% anyways (okay some people do, but not as a starter). Just go through it, look things up and make volume in work. Helped me alot. I had the same problem with learning python. Then i just starting building things and learned more in one week then 12 weeks before. Enjoy your progress!

I recommend you this order: Pre Security, Intro To Cyber, Complete Beginner, Cyber Defense, Web Fundamentals, Junior Penetration Tester, Offensive Penetration Tester then the Comptia one. Hey man, I recently got my CRTO + OSCP and am on track for OSEP, if you want to learn the offensive side of things, do intro to cybersecurity > jr penetration tester > offensive pentesting > and then the red team path. @@Ben-xw5uo the THM Offensive Pentesting path is designed to be a nearly identical pathway to the OSCP. it even has a similar icon to hint that its OSCP oriented. the Red Teaming path also has some more advanced oscp topics like bypassing antivirus and stuff but in general everything up to the offensive pentesting path will prepare you extremely well for oscp. like i said tho the red teaming path goes into more advanced topics than the oscp in some ways too

And does dedicated GPU matter in the pursuit of coding / cyber security and all things .. intel vs AMD vs M1 is one better or best for compatibility using specific tools . currently have a 2018 MacBook with i5 and 8gb ram which are low specs and looking to get new laptop with better specs . Seems windows is the ideal and since it would be easier to access Linux via VM’s . But yes any recommendations welcome would be greatly appreciated!

Tryhackme is fine. But before going for tryhackme I suggest watching some of those 15 hour cyber security videos, so as to get familiar with the tools. WHY? I got stuck on a path in thm where i was supposed to change a method from GET to POST, i tried using developer tools, it didn't work so i googled and found that i had to use burp suite (it had never been introduced to me) how was i supposed to use it then? I spent hours on that problem alone Summary: before going for either, go in with knowledge of some tools and techniques, then anything you learn there will be a sort of reminder and you wont get easier frustrated all together. Also, the thm machines can also be very slow or unresponsive sometimes
