That first kit is for spherification! It's a gastronomy technique. "popping" bubbles in boba tea are the same thing, and East Side Mario's has some drinks (non-alcoholic) with little bubbles made the same way.

fun fact! the burger poppin cookin has 2 versions which my friends and i found out recently, the one that is marketed in japan (with japanese instructions and labels) uses a microwave and has their snack as savory and tasting like what it is while the one that is in english for a western audience doesnt require any "cooking" and the taste of it is actually sweet and not a burger taste, my friends figured out that it is probably alot to do with how many westerners found the real flavors of the japan kit gross (i actually prefer it) and decided to go for the sweet route to appeal to the foreign market where the concept of a savory candy-like kit is kinda unheard of

When I was watching the first kit, it reminded me of a video of a guy deep-frying water using a similar method. Pretty much, what creates the blobbiness of the blob is either sodium or calcium alginate (both can be used I believe). The alginate creates a membrane around the water, making it form a pocket of water that bursts when punctured. Science ftw!! I should say I'm not a scientist, just a person who spends too many hours watching KZbin.

I just wanted to say I bought your kits yesterday and I am so excited!!! I love doing sculpey sculptures and have even started making humanoid mythical creatures with clothing as a challenge. So I am really excited to try your kit especially the resin part never done that and have always wanted to try!
