If the one kit was actually a stem kit, it would explain that the fizziness you get in bath bombs comes from the reaction of the baking soda and citric acid combination mixing with the water. Also, the reason why it seems to lack the "spa experience" is because most bath bombs contain some kind of moisturizing oils or butters in addition to the actually necessary ingredients, and it didn't include these. That said, y'all should test out some more adult oriented kits if you get the chance. Nature's Garden Candles has a lot of bath and body product kits. One of my favorites that I got from them was a chocolate and avocado lip balm kit. For just $15, it came with everything to make 15 high quality lip balms, so it was cheaper than most of the ones you find elsewhere, but it was also significantly better quality and made more items too.

I actually appreciate companies reusing items, this means that they need less factory machines to make them (as each mold needs to be made for each new design, factory molds need to be copied and it takes a lot of energy and unnecessary environmental footprint).

I appreciate creativity, and it can get boring if parents buy kits only from the same company containing the same items, but I am all for reducing waste and unnecessary customisation. I actually don't mind kits that don't include everything just don'tstate on the packaging...), most households have cups, spoons, water, etc at home, no need for extra plastic there. Just make sure it's clearly stated on the box. 😄

I find they are some times very nit picky. I also don't mind the same molds in the kit. The molds can be reused for many other crafts and if you have multiple children everyone can get their own mold and no fighting will be had over who gets what. I also agree with you in the aspect of spoons, cups, bowls ect..most homes have those items and if they don't they cost a dollar at any dollar tree. I know why she says it sometimes because the price does not correlate with the materials given but if every manufacturer charged a reasonable price based on the price of the items they stick in a craft kit they would never make money. The margins would be horrible.

Citric acid will only fizz with a base. So if you the citric acid fizzed it was because of the baking soda in the water. If the acid fizzed without the presence of any base then there is something super wrong with your water.

as a thought on the geode ones -- coconut oil has a low melting point, so any bath water will probably be warm enough to keep it in a liquid form, thus preventing the 'glob of oil' effect'

I made bath bombs for a science experiment in school to learn about chemical reactions and the mixture fizzing is normal. And yes it’s mainly citric acid but the epsom salt should’ve added something to help your skin depending on what type of epsom salt. As far as I know, The baking soda also adds a small portion to the fizz.
