We love our pickles in the USA. And by pickles, we generally mean pickled cucumbers even though we will pickle anything from Okra to beets(root) to peaches...that's right I said Peaches. As a child we would often have a multi-family veggie garden with other family members (Aunts, Uncles etc.) and would grow cucumbers like crazy. My Mom and her sisters would "put up" meaning "home canned in mason jars" a multitude of pickles...dill, sweet, bread and butter along with an outlier watermelon rind pickles! (very southern) The green rind (not the skin) would be pickled in a super sweet pickling syrup. They were great as a side to beans 'n cornbread. My mom would put sooo much green food coloring in the pickling liquid that they almost looked radioactive! hahaha...Happy munching Guys.

Peaches 🍑😱 no way!! Are they any good pickled peaches?? That is so cool you did that as a family. Bet they were amazing Hahaha that’s amazing 😂😂😂 perfect for Halloween 🎃😂
@rickgarms76563 жыл бұрын
@@ThisWithThem My Dad would eat them in cottage cheese as a dessert. The pickling liquid had sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg and my Mom would stud the whole peaches with cloves. The whole peaches were blanched and peeled before pickling. A crazy food tradition I agree, but it works on some level I suppose. My parents and their siblings were all "depression" era children so their approaches to conservation and making use of what's available were "zen" level to say the least. PS, I enjoy your sibling banter.

Here's an idea for Kate. I can't stand beer and have never had a glass, can, nor bottle of beer in my life. But, I don't mind Lambic when fruity (like Lambic Framboise from Belgium.) Technically it's a beer, but it's not like most beers, ales, ports, ipas, stouts, etc. It's not made with brewer's yeast and doesn't have hops. Lambics are more like hard cider than beer the way it tastes. I'm gonna try a new fruity "sour" beer from a local brewery tonight (weather permitting, it's been storming like mad,) so we'll see if I can tolerate it. So, perhaps Kate could try fruity sours or fruity lambics or even hard ciders and see if she likes them. ~Be Blessed

Beer cheese actually does have beer and is traditionally also served in a bar. Traditionally, beer cheese is served cold and consists of sharp cheddar cheese (or processed cheese with cheddar flavor), beer, garlic, and pepper, preferably cayenne. And you're actually missing quite a lot with not having American chili con carne it's actually different by location but not really confused with boring and actually has flavor. And you have had okra dried and pickled but normally it is boiled and very culturally relevant in some areas. Oh and trader Joe's peach salsa that's good!!!

I love kosher dill pickle spears. You should try the Ranch powder dip packet in container of pickles leave it for 24 hours before eating a spear. They say it’s so good. A new craze we are seeing in crisps in U.S. is Mexican street corn Cheetos,trader Joe's, and Doritos both have a Mexican street corn or Elote flavors.

Mount Olive pickles are my favorites, but I prefer the dill. I get the baby sized pickles and can eat several at a time.

I bet you had a great time with North Carolina snacks, Kate. I'd love to see you tackle Wisconsin, my home state, but I don't have the money and snacks to send.

Craft beer is huge here in the USA. there’s at least 20+ breweries with in 5 miles of my house I live in a boarder town so they’re in two different state. Maine and New Hampshire. Which is In New. England in the Northeast On the East coast of America.

Great box I love the new dance for Beer of the week. I was wondering what time of the day do you tape your videos because with all the snacks and treats that you try , for me that would have to be a meal, unhealthy but quite delicious. Have a safe and happy week💕🦋

Right...there's no crab in the chips, just like there's no barbeque... just the spices we use to make them sprinkled on top!
