don’t waste the broccoli! if you’re on a soup journey put your veggie scraps in a ziplock in the freezer and when you have enough you can use that to make your own veggie stock!

I would love more cooking videos! As an aside, my mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and has started her chemo journey. I live across the country and can't be with her, so seeing you share your journey has been incredibly helpful for both me, but also her to be able to see a person going through a similar experience doing well / sharing joy. 🙌

Hottip! If you get runny soup, you can thicken it with cornstarch slurry! Easy-peasy!

I think the flour was supposed to do it and I've never tried to do a cornstarch at the end of a flour/roux based soup. Does that work? I have tried arrowroot as it doesn't tend to alter flavors for me and is good for thickening at the end of cooking (it'll start to break back down if you cook it too long).

Both of these will work, adding a bit of water mixed with corn starch or flour (clarifying because someone new to cooking might not know what a slurry is). Melting potatoes in can also help but alter the taste slightly (which can be awesome depending on the soup), or just boiling the soup for longer till the water evaporates sufficiently, stirring occasionally to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom.

Hahaha my girlfriend is a manager at a Trader Joe's and those stores intimidate ME! The entire company is honestly an introvert's nightmare and I literally never shop there on my own bc it's so stressful. This soup looks great, I'm inspired to put cheese and broccoli in soup ASAP :)

Tip for making thin soup thicker... whisk a few Tablespoons of corn starch in half a mug of cold water till smooth... add, bring to a low boil remove from heat when it thickens. Works for gravy too.

I had the same issues with my stomach for over 20 years. Tested for SIBO and was able to treat it. One of the things that kills the bacterial overgrowth is garlic, which makes the bugs fight back and causes the reactions to onions and garlic. You should get tested since it's a fairly simple treatment and so worth it!

Chronic fatigue club sucks but we're all in bed together so that's comforting. Sativa helps mine a bit but I have to do a blend because I'm sensitive and it can make me too jittery. Indica is my go-to for pain, sleep, and appetite. Congrats on your progress!

all chefs need to dress to match the kitchen. matching towels and beanies (and gouda rind) are a perfect touch. you can also add coconut milk (the one in a can) for a creamier, but healthy soup. and dont add the stems - you did everything right
