So I've been seeing these clothing and fashion hack videos all over Instagram, and they always seem so incredibly strange that I decided to test a bunch of them out and see how they were! We tried a few out from different instagram accounts and pages and ended up with a boxer bralette, a laminated shirt, a skirt weighed down with coins, a bra strap necklace, and napkin shoes!
Don't forget to cast your tattoo vote at the end of the video before Tuesday afternoon!
BTW, if you don't see the "i" icon in the corner to vote on the tattoo, try hovering or clicking on the screen to see it in the corner!
Don’t forget to click the bell to turn on post notifications!

With the graphic tee hack, I think that there's a reason that we see a child and a man wearing them. The graphic is literally a stiff picture attached to the shirt. It couldn't survive boobage.

The "hack" final result was probably done with transfer paper specially made for that stuff. Looks like when I used to make graphic tees for myself as a Teen~ those transfers actually are flexible enough to survive even a decent amount of boobage

I think there might be something out there that you can sew into the hems to do the job and is made just for that. I'm a bit into sewing and such so ik there's so many things out there that are hardly known or found in fast fashion items and some are really cool and should be there in your everyday clothes but idk for sure if there's something that's specified for this issue as I personally never had it since I usually make/wear maxi skirts made from thick fabric (my preference for comfort) so both the length and the fabric make the skirt heavy enough on its own

@@smolcactispaceship9005 but, if you are already going to go get the rosettes at Wal-Mart or JoAnn's or wherever, why not just get a little bit of ribbon there? You can buy it by the spool for under a dollar, and in several colors. Cut it slightly bigger than your neck and tie it on. And while you are at the store, hit the bead aisle and pick up a couple of large pendant beads for a couple of bucks and use all that leftover ribbon to make more chokers.

the weight of any garment is important: kind of unrelated, but U. S. Army used to mandate that for official photos personnel had to wear the winter full wool Army Green uniform and not the lightweight mixed fabric coat and pants. The shoe thing is real, and it’s called “decoupage,” but from what I can tell it’s a little more involved than the hack would lead you to believe. It looks like Saf had the right idea about putting the paper in pieces first, and you should apply a layer of Modpodge under the paper, then smooth any wrinkles out before doing the top coat. I also think tissue or napkin might be too lightweight to get a good result.

@@hcbfhwjdjckek or, if you are still at home as you suggested, you can just, idk, change skirts. Certainly faster than taping down quarters (honestly I rarely ever have change lying around in the house any more since I use my debit card more often than cash). Prajesh Trivedi Easily untaped, can be reattached without sharp tools if using precut pieces of tape or sown pockets in the hem (fold the edge one inch then then sew short stints from fold towards top, making a row of 1"x1" open inside pockets, distribute coins according to style of the day). Bonus: For best weight per dollar, consider using dimes, cents or pebbles. For maximum value use expensive jewelry.

If you're doing that to shoes, you have to use a thicker paper, like comic book pages or stronger. A thin layer to glue the paper to the shoe, then a little bit thicker layer on the top. Let it dry and cure, about a day, and it's ready when it's not tacky to the touch. Then you have to layer it again and let dry 24-48 hours again. If you're not too impatient, do it a third time. But 2 layers minimum.

as someone who does mod podge a lot. the downfall was the pattern of napkin, as well as technique. first, you need a pattern that if full of color. like in the video. if not it becomes "clear" and you see the shoe, and any imperfections. as for technique, you MUST apply a layer of mod podge to the shoe, then place the napKin in sections while still wet. then apply more mod podge over top. it must be applied to every inch of shoe you want the napKin to be or it will not tare well. also tare when dry.

The modpodged shoe does work, it just takes a lot of time and you have to be very careful. A layer of modpodge first, then the napkin, carefully smoothed out with a brush and another layer of modpodge on top. I guess they made it look a lot easier in the video, because the real process would be far too long and detailed to squeeze it in a couple seconds of film. I actually did that with a pair of shoes and some fabric once and it turned out quite pretty, but it made the shoes very stiff and uncomfortable to wear. So I wouldn't recommend it. xD

Wait till it dries to tear the extra paper off or trim cloth. And I suggest you put some waded up paper or a plastic bag inside the shoe so glue and varnish doesn't get inside.

I've done something that's kinda similar to this in a painting class as well. You can take a printed image and apply light layers of matte medium over the image, wait for it to dry, and then rub off the paper fibers to create an applique type thing. Then you take can use matte medium to adhere it to your painting. Its definitely not perfect, but it does make for a cool effect!

I use pennies and/or fishing weights, and often make little pack, with hook and loop closure dots, so I can use the same weights in several skirts I open the hem and slip them in.

I read that Queen Elizabeth has weights in the hem of her skirts so she never has an issue with her skirt. I read this because one of the young royals committed the heinous faux pas of allowing conditions in which her skirt blew up in the wind a little. Gasp.

purr bugaloo it make sense cause since she's royalty. She don't have to walk around too much so even if there's weight to her skirts, it was no trouble for her.

But I highly doubt that glued in coins are the best way to make the skirt heavier. In Germany you can buy something specifically to be sewn into curtains to weigh them down. That would probably work on skirts as well

Weights in skirts are quite common, at least in formal and/or historical clothing. You can actually buy strips of meal weights to sew into skirt hems. In the past (like the 1950's and 1960's) when circle skirts were really popular, they wore big petticoats underneath so the skirts stayed put.

Jannyl13 Jepp, I have used those curtain weights on skirts! Live in Berlin, couldn’t use the underground otherwise...the draft on the stairs when the trains come and go is basically hurricane strength 😎 It can look weird though, depending on the fabric...flattens it down. It’s trial and error.

Safiya instead of rewatching the whole video on Instagram, you can just screen record it once so that you can pause and play the recordings. It might get a bit easier next time😁 Anyways I love your videos!❤
