Hey Emily! A cosmetologist explanation here! I believe your roots don’t take color as well because the porosity of the roots isn’t as high as the ends. After bleaching, the hair cuticle is lifted, thus increasing porosity. Also, the green color is due to the blue and purple pigment in the first dye! Using color theory, your yellow roots + blue dye = green. To counter yellowness, use purple to give a neutral tone. I hope this helps! Long time viewer of your channel! ❤️

@@salma.almansoori You could leave your bleach on your roots just a tad longer to damage your hair a little bit more, but no one likes damaged hair, so perhaps try to dye your roots a slightly darker color (sort of like a shadow root) until the growout naturally takes on damage and can be dyed better. I've noticed that when color struggles to take to hair, it often shows up a little lighter and muted, sometimes a little patchy too, so a darker color might help to mitigate that muted tone. (Not a professional, just wanted to offer a suggestion since no one has answered you yet.)

You can remove black way faster than blue so yeah if you don't want it blue for 10 months(or you can bleach it 7000 times to completely get the blue out) don't dye it blue

@@madelyn6055 you can do a bleach bath to get the colour out with less damage it's the most effective way! ( Bleach, a little bit of water, 10 volume, and shampoo) leave it for like 15 minutes and see if it needs more then rinse☺️

Hiya! Crazy Colour is the original “unnatural” hair dye I first used in the 70s/ Early 80s as it was sold at Manic Panic (I was an early employee of their B&M shop & they’re lifelong bff’s of mine), only place you could get different coloured dyes. I switched to Manic Panic after a dalliance w/ Directions, these 3 brands are the originals. Punky Color is horrid (as is the owner, creepy), haven’t tried Arctic Fox as I get such good colour that lasts w/ MP. I’m actually surprised the colours came out so pastel as their colours used to be super strong, vibrant & it looked that way when on! Came out very pretty anyway! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️😻🏠🐾🐈‍⬛🤞🙏🏼

I’ve just dyed my hair bubblegum blue it’s a beautiful colour absolutely love it but I had the same issue with lilac I wanted to go lilac on the top and bubblegum blue on the bottom but I ended up just going over lilac with the blue and it looks reasonably good. Love your hair videos x

Pulp riot is the best to me!! I dye my hair a new color every 4 weeks lol so you know I bleach my roots and I’ve never had an issue trying to get my roots to take to the color! Rn I have the exact thing you were going for a dark purple & light purple. We used velvet 10 & lilac 10 & I love it

Lavender is indeed pretty dark, but it definitely has a warm base! It has the same depth as Hot purple, but that one has a blue base. Lilac is definitely lighter. Most shades are as runny as Lilac, the lavender is exeptionally thick. I usually use this brand if I don't mind it washing out fast, and they are great for mixing with other colours and brands. OH and bubblegum blue looks indeed purple in the bottle, but that evens bleached hair out PERFECTLY to a beautiful light baby blue!

Oh my god, you need to try Adore hair dye! I used to use Lime Crime, but they don't ship the colours I like to UK anymore and have been advised to look up Adore instead. I am not going back ❤ it's a lot more of a shampoo consistency, so you genuinely don't need a lot of it, as it saturates through the hair wonderfully! After having read the reviews I decided to mix '116 Purple Rage' and '114 Violet Gem' to get that Cadbury purple shade, because one comes out more on the blue side and one comes out more on the darker magenta pink side and I wanted something between them. They do lots of amazing shades to choose from and you can mix them to get even more shades ❤

Hey girl! There’s a few ways to fix the roots not taking color. 1) Try using stronger developer, 2) leave your lightener on longer (up to an hour if you’re using powder), or 3) switch to a cream or oil lightener and use a little heat. You’re not getting your cuticle open enough to take the direct dyes, that’s all.

Try using a porosity equaliser spray before dying your hair it'll help fill in any damage caused by bleaching.. I need to use it sometimes for my grey to take.

You could use some olapex to help prep your hair if you hair is being resistant. It’s because the bleach dissolves all of your pigment (melanin). You need to fill the hair cuticle. Ordinarily I’d say don’t wash your hair right before coloring but if your hair is too dirty and built up with excessive product or oil you don’t want that either. And you really shouldn’t apply anything to wet hair because that’s when your hair is more vulnerable to breakage. I’d wash it a day before in dry hair. But I know you e been doing this for a long time so whatever works for you as long as you’re hair ain’t falling out. I just thought you’d appreciate some advice xo 😘

If you’re struggling make colour stick try using a clarifying treatment beforehand. The dryer and cleaner the hair, the better!!! :)

Awe those colors look so pretty on you & I love how you styled it💜 as a cosmetologist, I've never used that color but I'm guessing the blues are on the purple side so that the purple cancels out any yellow in the hair, so you get a more true blue 😊
