I keep forgetting that Americans don't get Kinder stuff! It's so weird to a Canadian like me that you guys've probably never had a Kinder Egg. It just seems so... wrong. Anyway, cool video. Showed up for the Brizzy, stayed because of the everything.

@zackhollings9017
@zackhollings9017 7 жыл бұрын
Huh. Good question. I've just always heard that the US doesn't get Kinder Eggs, and based on what I've seen in some of these "taste-testing other candies" videos (man, there's a lot of them), I just assumed that there wasn't any Kinder at all. Maybe it used to be considered too much of a choking hazard or something? I now have some research to do! But, uh, thanks for telling me about Kinder being a thing down there. Always good to be informed of these things.

Zack Hollings I don't know if they're too popular but I see them semi-often in local European markets
@zackhollings9017
@zackhollings9017 7 жыл бұрын
ALRIGHT, figured it out. So, apparently, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act prevents food from having non-visible, non-edible things inside of them, which is a huge part of it. It's really dumb, as Kinder Eggs have warning labels and 3+ labelled on them in an extremely visible way, along with the capsules and toys inside being a very unreal cause for concern-- especially with the toys that are coming with them now. Anyway, now we (along with anyone else who reads this comment [hi other people!]) are better informed on a particularly irrelevant situation. Thanks for adding research to tonight's itinerary; always fun to find out new things.

Geschmacksrichtungen = Geschmack (Taste) + Richtungen (directions) = Tastedirectitions = flavour :D
@HenryLoenwind
@HenryLoenwind 5 жыл бұрын
And you can go even further: Geschmack: base is "schmack/schmeck", to taste. Noun prefix "ge" for "something that is". That makes "Geschmack" "something that makes you taste something". Richtungen: base is "richt", to align/to position/to fix in place. Noun suffix "ung" for "a way of"/"a definition of"/"an instance of". Plural suffix "en". So "Richtung" literally is "something you align to(wards)". However, this gets really tricky as words got fixed into their common forms literal ages ago and their meaning started to drift from the original simple combination. Like here, "Richtungen" is used to mean "variants". In addition, the meanings of the different pre- and suffixes is very hard to nail down...

That's not a real word :/ I would make that "Bedeutung der Desinfektionsmittelsbeilagenaufschrift in der Verpackung" for it to make sense. Still not 100% sure what you mean with that xD German is a language with a lot of very long words. "Geschmacksrichtungen" is a totally common word in everyday life and I didn't even notice that it's long. There is no need to make up fake words to make German look more complicated than it already is.

The story behind the banning of Kinder Eggs in not that the eggs or the Kinder product is specifically banned. Once there was a candy or chocolate manufacturer, who put hard metal (think Monopoly game pieces) inside candy. There was some chocking and damage to teeth, because the candy was not labelled as containing a toy. So law makers banned any candy that has any kind of toy or non edible object inside, unless the container splits open to reveal the toy, and is not embedded in the candy or chocolate. Kinder eggs, not specifically banned, fall under the category of a non edible object inside of the chocolate, and since the label is not in English, any warnings are not going to be recognized by no German speaking people. It's Kinder's own fault for not labelling the product correctly or putting the toy inside a plastic egg, and putting the chocolate on the outside.
@andreasvogler1875
@andreasvogler1875 7 жыл бұрын
Ferrero aka Kinder changes the labelling according to the country they sell their products in, so if sold in the US, the labelling would be english. Furthermore the plastic egg is big enough not to be swallowed by accident, especially if the parents explain this particular sweet to their child.

Yep, plus the container inside splits open. Even the chocolate shell splits open. And young kids need help opening the container. It's not THAT much of a threat.

Regarding the Kindereggs: 1: The toys are stored inside a yellow plastic capsule that is hidden inside the hollow chocolate egg. It is specifically made to be too large to be swallowed and chocked on accidentially. 2: They are forbidden in the US due to a law that bans any food items that include non-food items which are not visible from the outside. 3: Whilst there has been a very small number of accidents (according to Wikipedia there have been ten fatalities. Considering that since 1974 about 30 billion of those eggs have been made and sold that's actually not a lot), all of them involved children that were either younger than the age recommendation or not properly supervised by the parents (something that the packaging also specifically points out). Also, none of the accidents happened due to the children just devouring the eggs alongside the candy but rather when playing with them after unboxing them (there is after all a reason you don't give certain toys to children who haven't learned to not put anything they find in their mouths).

Nice video, but - Waldmeister: sweetscented bedstraw If you drink togehter you say „Prost“ or „Zum wohl!“ - Eating the ahoi brause without water was by the way the better choice. Thats what most people here do - Kinder: Ferrero -> Italian (although Kinder is german for children) - FYI: inside the chocolate of Kinder Eggs is a smaller egg made of plastic with the toy inside … you can’t eat the toy by accident - Hanuta: Ferrero again (your not that bad at pronouncing german, better than most), Rocher ist he same company - Knoppers … the first way you pronounced it was the right way: including the „k“.“Knoppers“, not „noppers“, one oft he most famous advertising slogan: „Morgens halb zehn in Deutschland: knoppers, das Frühstückchen“ -> „Half past nine in the morningn in germany: Knoppers, the little breakfast snack - There is no root beer taste stuff in germany - Yogurette: again Fererro (Italian) - Milka: swiss - Kinder Country: again Italian.

Next to nobody actually drinks Brause, we all prefer to just lick it. Or pair it with Vodka.And to explain the Knoppers thing: They had a huge advertising campaign convincing Germans that Knoppers is the ideal snack to eat "at the morning 9:30 in Germany" which is around the time when school children have their first recess (there isn't a thing like school lunch at most Germans school, so children get something small like a buttered bread and an apple to tide them over until they get home around 13 o'clock for a warm meal) and people often take a short coffee break at work.

I laughed so hard at this since i should be sleeping for hours now. Literally every attempt to pronounce „Stefan“ was wrong but very funny. And what you call rich or „you have candy for a week with these“ is actually a normal package for one or two persons and one evening. Those „Dickmans“ are awesome by the way! I could eat half a package in 15 minutes! I love them! Oh and please google „Waldmeister“ once since it is a small flower without real fruits or sth.
