Lovely...thank you for loving an Indonesian foods, perhaps you should try the nasi uduk Betawi with some of the various toppings (tempe, bakwan, tofu, eggs etc). Or maybe if spicy were on the list...lol, say nasi padang with the buffet will blowing you away in West Sumatranese culinary. Stay safe in your adventure in Indonesia.

You should try : - Gadogado BOPLO they have many franchise. - Ketoprak & Somay in Jl Ciragil in south Jakarta ( just eat inside your car). - Nasi Goreng Kambing in Jl Kebon Sirih - Soto Mie - Soto Betawi - Ketupat Sayur - Asinan BETAWI - Sate Ayam & Sate Kambing Most of all above are authentic Jakartanese culinary. If you want to try other province culinary in Indonesia, Jakarta always provide it. Like Padang resto, Sundanese Resto, Sulawesi resto etc. My suggestion for you : - always ask : Tidak Pedas. ( not spicy) first, otherwise you won’t enjoy the food if it is to painfuly hot to the tongue . And could be to harsh to your stomach. - always eat it with rice. ( can be white or red rice). The concept of intense & strong Indonesian food is always eat it with rice, ( ketupat, lontong or buras they all rice cake) than the taste will be more balance. - actually sambal or Indonesian chilly sauce will alway make your food even better & richer. It will increase your appetite. But always try it slowly step by step. And always combine it with rice. It’s actually the rice condiment.

This is just my opinion but I think the reason is, Indonesian food or maybe even Asian food in general has a lot more variety on the plate itself. You get the veggies, the meat, the rice... Like even when u eat tofu or tempeh here, they cook it properly, and not treat it like a vegan food or something. They incorporate that into the dish too. :)
