That’s really beautiful. Thanks. I’ve just bought myself inktense pencils so watching like crazy to learn. Certainly seams different to oil painting. 😊
@CautionArtistatPlay2 жыл бұрын
It is definitely different than oil painting, much closer to watercolor. So much fun to work with though!

Wow! I learned so much from this. I will be rewatching. The Inktense pencils and the Faber Castell Pitt pens are two of my favorite supplies to use. I’m always looking for new ways to make use of the two, but have never thought about using them together, for some odd reason. Landscapes with water are something I love to do, but I continually struggle with getting waves and clouds right. I cannot wait to try these techniques. I have been considering purchasing the Inktense blocks for a long time, contemplating whether I truly need them. I wanted see how they could be used in conjunction with the pencils, and that's how I found your video. Now I’m sold!

Shana I don't even know you but I'm having a love hate relationship developing with you at the moment. As a fellow artist I am wanting these intense blocks and pencils, I already have The pitt pens, but as I watch you create this beautiful piece, I am dying to order both the pencils and blocks so I can maybe create something similar in nature. But I will be good and settle for using my watercolor and pastel supplies to practice with until next month when I can order the blocks. Grrr hate having to wait to order new toys. :)

@CautionArtistatPlay2 жыл бұрын
Lol I know the feeling! I see in your other comment that you have watercolor pencils and pastels, those should do for now. Also, most soft and chalk pastels are also water-soluble so I recommend playing around with that as well!
@paularimmer19532 жыл бұрын
Just amazing! Thank you for sharing. I've had the inktense pencils and blocks for a few months now absolutely love them. Ive been making textile seascapes I would love to use my inktense to create the sky on fabric would you mind if I ask what colours did you use in the sky please?
@CautionArtistatPlay2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thank you! I believe I used Iris blue for the sky, washed out with varying amounts of pressure. It may have also been the Dark Ultramarine as that can be washed out to a nice sky color as well.

Just came across your channel. Nice painting !! Wanted to know if there is any specific reason for using the white pitt pen instead of the white inktense block. Thanks and looking forward to more Inktense :)
@CautionArtistatPlay5 жыл бұрын
Hello, and welcome! Thank you, I am glad you like the painting! To answer your question, I did use the white Inktense block with a fine brush for some of the wavy lines in the water and to lighten some places, but I found the Pitt pen to be a bit more opaque and I was able to cover some of the larger areas of white quicker with the Pitt pen. Really it just helped to speed up the process because I didn't have to layer it as much as I would with the white Inktense block. So, I used both depending on what effect I was looking for. I hope this helps!

Was the paper pilling in this piece or was the paler towel leaving debris? Man, I want the blocks!
@CautionArtistatPlay3 жыл бұрын
I think a little bit of both happened, there was definitely some debris from the paper towel that I was able to dust off easily, and there was a spot on the sky where the paper tried to pill a little bit. I don't tend to use this paper for Inktense anymore unless it's something with light applications. This is the Strathmore 400 series mixed Media paper, it's a favorite of mine, but it can't handle as much abuse as hot pressed watercolor paper lol. Now I tend to use Arches Hot Pressed Watercolor paper.

Does the ink from Inktense ruin the nib on Pitt pens? Leave colour on nib?
@CautionArtistatPlay Жыл бұрын
Not too bad. There is a little bit, but it wipes off easily. It's no worse than using it with other Pitt Pens.

Hey nice video derwent lost my trust with there Colorsoft colored pencils but anyway have a good one
@CautionArtistatPlay5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do not have a lot of experience with their coloursoft pencils. I have a few of them, but am not a huge fan. Not all of their pencils are cut from the same cloth though, that's for sure. I love their Inktense and their Drawing line of colored pencils. Each of their pencil lines are a bit different, so for me, it's really all about finding which line works best for my individual style.

@jamesgriffith8767 Жыл бұрын
why not use the dark to light or white method, you completely wasting the white on white paper.
@CautionArtistatPlay Жыл бұрын
To put it plainly, I just didn't feel like it. Everyone has their own way of working, and there is no one right way to do things. It's not a waste if I got the effect I was looking for and enjoyed myself doing it. I found this way to be simpler for the way I like to work. It's not for everyone, and that's fine.
