I got accepted to the University of Tokyo last week! I must admit that your videos inspired me to work harder every day so that I could come to Japan. Thank you for making these videos, and I hope to bump into you around Tokyo someday soon:)

Just wanna say congrats dude! I went on a study abroad last summer to Ryukoku University in Kyoto and it was the best time of my life/dream come true. I'm Hopefully going to try out for another study abroad at Tokyo Uni or the year long program in Japan that my university offers. You'll love life in Japan, everyday I wish I can go back. have fun!!

That's awesome! Congratulations! I always sucked at school, as my brain works differently (I'm an autodidact and can only learn if I am doing it on my own time and my own way -- writing was the only subject I was good at), so that would never have been an option for me. I'm glad it is for you, and I hope you flourish there. 🙂

@@englishatheart I happen to have similar issues haha. I have ADHD, and have a hard time focusing on a single thing, let alone studying. I just happened to work on a lot of engineering projects, which probably helped my application. I'm kinda worried about sustaining academically in Tokyo, so I hope things go well haha... I hope you figure stuff out and do well too!

This is not meant in an offensive way but I find it awful that people today find it not peaceful in a normal restaurant but instead prefer looking at a wall during their menu.

For the first bit of the video, Ironically my first ramen in Tokyo was Ichiran! even though everyone says don't go there blah blah tourist spot blah blah. My second day in Tokyo, deep somewhere in Shinjuku down an alleyway I spotted one and darted in. I have been actively taking Japanese at my university so I can speak, read, and write pretty decently but still got confused at the vending machine to pick your order 🤣 The staff were very helpful and the Ramen was great. The cold water dispenser on your left was awesome on a hot summer day. I was the only foreigner in the packed restaurant so honestly, If its good enough for the Japanese its good enough for you. Afterwards I got enough courage to go to some local mom and pop shops for food. Also I really want to take some of these unique or luxury night buses you've shown off! Maybe next time on my next trip between Tokyo/Kyoto instead of the Shinkansen.

You had me laughing in that bus seat. That was like a comedy sketch. 😂 But it's nice to see some budget options.

Even for Japan, that's one of the most eccentric restaurants I've ever seen. They only do one dish, and you communicate by holding up little wooden placards 🪧? (I like the one that says "It's noisy". If you hold that up, do the waiting staff hold up a sign saying "SHUT UP!!" ? 😂

I don't think the non verbal communication setup is weird at all. I have severe anxiety and find it practically impossible to talk to strangers if they don't talk to me first. And I know more and more people are being diagnosed with autism, and many people with autism are non-verbal, so this would be great for them as well.
