Hojicha (pronounced Ho-Ji-Cha) is a roasted green tea, so the packet you received was a green tea latte. Mochi - is a pounded glutenous rice cake. The dough is pounded and stretched and that is what gives it, its sticky chewy texture. I’m a hufflepuff but when it come to japan, I kinda feel like a ravenclaw. I’m glad you enjoyed your box and learning new things from Japan :3~

Snack 1: Coverture is usually something like a glaze Snack 2: Baumkuchen is actually german and means "tree cake". You bake only one layer at one, huge amount of time but taste great, and thats why it's the "tree cake"...cause of the rings haha!

The little hint says: Kansai here we come. Kansai is the west side of Japan. Kyoto, Osaka, Nara... these are some of the most historical and visually popular locations of Japan. You'll see places like the Golden Temple, Osaka Castle, or the Nara deer park. I suspect loads of matcha, kinako, okonomiyaki flavors, anko (red bean), and mochi. A lot of those snacks I used to devour when I lived in Japan. Chinsuko is BY FAR the best snack in all of Japan. I hope you can try the original flavor though as that is the BEST! Have fun snacking!

I did not know that Baumkuchen is so popular in Japan. (I am from Germany) Here it is popular too, but manly at Christmas time. In some regions you can buy it at any time though. (By the way Baumkuchen translates to tree cake and it is referring to the many layers of it.) The cake is made while rotating and that's why it has this many layers. And there are probably videos of it if you search "Baumkuchen making".😊
