The trick with pronouncing Japanese words is that their letters (sound pairings) are consonant+vowel, and vowels can be on their own. So you pronounce words like sa-ku-ra or ka-ra-o-ke. If you see two consonants together it indicates a slight pause, and sometimes they group three letters together as a single sound like to-kyo or ma-cha. Hope this helps so you don’t feel bad pronouncing Japanese words. I love seeing all of the Bokksu treats.
@cherrywallis3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the educating (I need it haha!) 😆
@ourabouras3 жыл бұрын
@@cherrywallis I’m glad it helps a little. Japanese is surprisingly easy to pronounce (not so easy to create coherent sentences though😊😅) once you break the words into pairings and slow down😁
@GrumpyKitten77623 жыл бұрын
You worded this waaaaay better than I was going to try to. Very well said! So much easier when you break it down into its individual sounds
@ourabouras3 жыл бұрын
@@GrumpyKitten7762 Thanks. I love that Cherry makes these videos and we all get to learn something new about a different culture, and just thought she should be able to say the words with more confidence. I found that Japanese was a surprisingly easy language to pronounce once someone broke it down for me… sentence structure not so much😊

I love how Bokksu means "box" in Japanese (well, the more borrowed word for box) and so when you say "I got my Bokksu box," you're basically saying, "I got my box box." HAHA! And the character on the box means "Hako" or "box" in Japanese. Yuzu is one of my FAVORITE flavors of autumn. I am actually obsessed with Yuzu-kosho (pepper) flavoring and it's perfect on chicken. Also persimmons are a fantastic fruit that is very earthy... I don't know how else to describe the flavor.

Hey Cherry, I received mine Monday, problem with Australia is some of them melted kind of ruining the experience and I payed for express :( (eg blueberry gummies and muskmelon bouchee). Japan Autumn vrs Australia spring is not a good match lol . But I loved the purple yam pie, and I liked the popcorn and the persimmon mochi and mochi puffs wer great! Bit worried to see how Japanese winter snacks arrive in Oz summer, they might be ruined, the issues of living down under.

I love persimmon! I don't think it tastes like cinnamon at all though. You should try some fresh ones. There's a type that is sour and has to freeze (you pick it on the trees after the first freeze) and then it's all soft and it's almost like a jam. and the other type is often from spain and you can eat it firm, cutting it with a knife of like an apple. (the firm ones are my fav) It's sweet and fresh and super "autumnal" tasting (if orange, not the fruit, but the autumnal colour, was a taste, I feel it would be close to a persimmon ^^) I'm always happy when it's autumn 'cause you can only find it during this season. I planted one in my garden, but it's still a baby tree for the moment ^^ edit : yes! you said "i"'m getting an autumn flavour" and that's exactly what I was saying persimmon tastes like to me ^^ the orange/autumn taste XD In france we call it kaki and the tree is a plaqueminier.
