This video is inspired by one I watched on the Amaco website ( www.amaco.com/clay_how_tos/208). Mishama is when you carve a design and inlay with slip or under glaze. I use the Mishama technique on a small hand built tester cup but with the addition of applying under glaze first, then wax, carve thru the wax and then apply more under glaze to the carved areas. It's a lot of fun and you should try it yourself! Let me know how it goes. :-)
If you are curious to see how I made the tester cups, check out my video here: • Hand build a small cup...

Hi! Thanks for the video. One question, does the wax disappear when u first fire? Or u ve to clean it somehow before glazing? Thanks!

ivana daniela good question! It burns off during the firing so you don't have to do anything.

What cone do you fire ? Then what clear glaze do you use and cone?
@andreaakeribpottery

These were first bisque fired to cone 04. Then I applied a clear glaze from the community studio I used to fire at and then fired to cone 6. It's really cool how the colors are still nice and bright.

Yes. Wax resist. The brand I currently use is Mr. Mark's but I have heard it has changed since I last bought it.

Did you keep the cup covered when not working on it?
@andreaakeribpottery
@andreaakeribpottery 7 жыл бұрын
I work in a damp garage so it would depend on how dry the cup was. It's fine to let the pieces get past leather hard. I have found you can even work on them bone dry but that is not my preference. I like keeping them at leather hard or just past. Hope that helps!
