This video made me so happy. I always love seeing people enjoy their hobbies and not only focus on the things that they HAVE to do. Our hobbies are a part of who we are and I know how most people ask "what is your job" but I prefer the question "what hobbies do you have, what do you enjoy doing in your free time" 💌

Watching you crochet reminds me of watching my mom. She would crochet to calm down after a hard day of work. She used to make us blankets. She made my daughter a baby blanket before she passed. I’ll cherish all those blankets forever. Crochet is a great skill.

when you crochet, the ends can be weaved in! use the yarn/darning needle and sew the ends throughout the stitches! it's just called weaving in the ends if you want to find a youtube video! you should do it with both of the ends, its safer than knotting, especially if you wash them! it makes them invisible

My best ever tip I’ve received while my wheel throwing class: Push your elbows into your hip/belly and kind of thinking like PUSHING the clay away from you. This has the effect, that your arms and the clay is not wobbling around and therefore you get uniform clay items + you’ll have more control. Hope this helps and lots of fun!!! ❤

Hannah, I can't state the comfort that your videos bring me. As someone in their early 20s who feels like they have everything (and therefore nothing specific) in front of them, your wholesome candor for life and taking things one step at a time is so refreshing. Your videos are the one part of my self-care routine that NEVER gets skipped. Cheers to you! Thank you.

omg i love seeing people joining in on my favourite hobbies (mainly crochet and reading)!!!!! i'd recommend using bright coloured yarn for crochet when you're first starting out (definitely not black) and acrylic is ok for coasters if you are not putting super hot drinks on it. i saw someone else comment about weaving in the ends, which is recommended, but other than that you're doing so well for crocheting for the first time!! the basics and figuring out how to simply hold the yarn and hook is the hardest part - it only gets better from here!

I went to college and got my bachelors in studio art. I taught art to kids mostly and adults when I graduated in 2017. KZbin helped me practice different techniques for ceramics because I was always a drawer, graphic designer, or painter until I decided to talk ceramics. I made a piece inspired by Judy Chicago for my senior portfolio presentation in our art gallery. I taught myself how to do chattering and create nesting flower bowls and teapots. Even created my own glaze. It was a great hobby and therapeutic. I hope you continue to learn cause it gets easier the more you practice and get inspired with ideas of things you want to create.

It's the creation part of things that makes your cortisol levels spike (happiness and fulfilment). I found that out on my late 20s that it is painting, baking and gardening. The end results are there for your taking. So I'd suggest implementing cooking and baking as part of the process, especially since it's going to feed you while also doing wonders for your mental health.

This is awesome, i love wheel pottery and crocheting and you’ve inspired me to pick up my projects again! One tip for crocheting is to find the other end of your yarn from inside either end of the tube - this allows you to do a straight pull for more length, rather than unwinding yarn from the outside of the skein with it rolling around!

This is a great video! I love doing crafty stuff too-the crocheting-omg. Same issue here. I learned many years ago and embarked on a cardigan. Did great until the sleeves. Ugh. I too am using a fluffy type yarn that, when you have to undo things, it catches to itself making the process much longer. But, so far, I think I’ve figured it out. Pottery is the BEST! I loved working on the wheel, though I did it in school. Many, many years ago :D

You are in one of the best places in the world for yarn stores! Look some up-the yarn is better than at the craft store and the help you’ll get is out of this world. I recently made some coasters myself! I’m not a professional, but this is what I e learned/do. When you are finished with the pattern you do what’s called a slip stitch. I’d look it up to double check. But, when you have finished your round, and you have done your last stitch, you go into your the first stitch of the round like you are going to single crochet, but instead you hook the yarn and you pull the yarn through both stitches on your hook. Then I just cut my yarn and pull my tail through the stitch on my hook and pull tight. You can do that twice if you want. Lastly, I weave my hook through some of the stitches and pull my tail through in order to hide it. Or I guess you could use a needle instead. I hope this all made sense. Good job! I also want to try pottery this year! It seems so intriguing!
@Carolineelizaa6 ай бұрын
hiiii i love this video!!! i've crocheted clothes and many coasters since I was 7 and if you pull the tail of the yarn inside the magic circle it will close up! Then sew in your ends (use a yarn needle to sew the tail ends into the piece) and it'll look neat and tidy and stay together really nicely :)

To even your stitches, once you finish a round and you join the last stitch with the first one, you're going to want to chain 2 and then work your next round. You're basically setting up the height for the next round and that will ensure you have a complete round with no dips. Hope this helps. Oh, and crocheting will become mindless once you get comfortable. I sit and watch DVDs while crocheting blankets.

Where the holes are bigger on your crochet is where you increased it (put two into the same stitch). Honestly its better that they are like that because it means you aren't crocheting too tight. If you want them small, you crochet tighter... but that makes it harder. You did so well for your first time!!!
