In this video I make a set of guards for the cubman using the new bead roller dies I brought from extra machinery as well as my stretcher and shrinker then I had an interesting idea about making radius edge wheel tubs so I had a go at making one of them as well using the TIG and planishing hammer
It was all quite successful and I will definatly be using these methods on an upcoming build

I had been planning on building the cubman for probably 5 years but I was inspired by GHPC to finally build it and film it. Well that and breaking my leg and having lots of spare time. I have an extensive playlist if you want to see EVERY detail of the build

Thanks. I borrowed it from a close friend who was using it as the name for his shed back in 2001 and since he was no longer in that shed I claimed it for myself... well for my shed anyway

Good job Jeff. Wish you had the bead roller when we were in high school. The floor pans of my Torana wouldn't have been 50% fiberglass.

Yeah. So many tools I have now that I wish I had back then... so many tools I have now that I wish I had even two years ago. Look on the bright side... I have them now and the builds that I can do now are going to be so much better than what we could have managed in highscool

@juscozcustoms
@juscozcustoms 3 жыл бұрын
I assume they come out of the same factory in China as the Hare and Forbes machine but I got them from Tim at extramachinery.com they are located in Sydney and gave me a much better price than H&F. Also because it is the same machine from both companies if you already have the H&F bead roller the dies from Extra Machinery should fit. I brought them many months back and can't remember what I paid for them but if you ring Tim and tell him you had seen them on my video I'm sure you will get a better price than H&F would give you

G'day mate just subbed to your channel my kind of content! Those mini tubs what if you rolled a curved shape before rolling the edges, wouldnt have the shrinker chewy chew marks then which suck when TIGíng. I got one of those bead rollers too but of the H&F kind(the little brother MB600) and also obtained the radius edging dies but havent tried them yet. Looking forward to more of your content 👍
@juscozcustoms
@juscozcustoms 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub. I actually tried that with the roller first and it didn't work at all. It ended up mostly flat again but with ripples in the edge. The shrinker marks are not bad because I was only shrinking 3mm of the edge. I should be able to remove most of the marks with a flap disk fairly easily before I weld it next time. I am going to be customising my bead roller soon to make it work better that might interest you. But I am also going to have a go at making another small English car very soon but until then you might enjoy the cubman playlist

@@juscozcustoms Ok that dont work... saves me trying it then! I havent mucked around with my bead roller much yet, still trying to get my metal/car working area sorted. The shed Im using was an old piggery made from drill pipe thats been added on and on an on by the previous owners who had a "that'll do" attitude... rustic to say the least🙄

@@st170ish my previous shed (a rental property) was a 4 bay machinery shed that only had one inclosed bay and the rest was carped on dirt flooring that was basically impossible to work on. I am happy with my shed now but it could be a bit bigger... maybe ten times the size would be big enough but for now I'm just doing shed upgrades to make the most of the space I have so there might be something that helps you in your shed As for the bead roller I suggest getting a sheet of 1mm steel (I'm using .95mm) and trying out every combination of dies you can think of and see what happens. It gives you the knowledge of what is going to happen with each die and after bending up $50 of sheetmetal you will have the confidence to have a go at making something to keep (its not a waste of steel if you are learning)
