I know you're probnably joking about the puppet, but yes, there is actually a reason for it - originally, it was for his unborn son and, yeah, while it looked weird, it didn't look *that* creepy. After losing the kid, discovering he had cancer and a failed self-yeet attempt, he decided to become a serial killer and made the puppet the most horrifying thing he could imagine. For as braindead as most people think the Saw movies are, there's a disgusting amount of backstory to almost every aspect of it. Also, the puppet's name is Billy.

@ShamarKemet I think it's the 4th one that finally gives more details on Jigsaw, the puppet and everything. Not bad for a series that was supposed to stop at number 3. I unabashedly love the films though, easily some of my most-watched movies.

absolute peak comedy is jigsaw not even being halfway through his "oohh the knife betrays you, choose wisely" line before SGF just picks up the scalpel and cuts into the nearest body. ZERO hesitation

One of the best experiences you can have with the Saw series is to throw someone who's never seen them right smack dab in the middle of the franchise like this and watching them realize that it's nothing like they had been led to believe, but also not in a way that's an improvement.

This was exactly my reaction. If this game has taught me anything, Saw is less of a thought-provoking horror franchise and more of an engine for Jigsaw jokes. I left this playthrough mostly thinking "I want a Detective Tapp/Jigsaw roommate sitcom". Obviously, Jigsaw is the slovenly underachiver of the pair, with hare-brained get-rich-quick schemes that somehow revolve around moralistic death traps.

I remember, about 10 years ago, I was eating out by myself and watching an LP of this game on my phone. I burst out laughing at one of the deaths, and then looked up to see a guy leaning over to see my screen. He looked so profoundly disgusted and absolutely horrified that I was laughing at all the gore. Hope he's doing well and that he's figured out I'm not a serial killer, anyways 10/10 bring on the shotguns

For the puzzle at 59:50 the dev team obviously weren't talking to each other. The script has Jigsaw say that the red and bue vials are antidotes to different poisons, but dangerous if mixed. The UI says that the red vials are antidote and the blue vials are poison. And the animation shows Amanda getting a completely separate injection if you mix the vials. Oh, and if this game is tacky, it's a ton better than the Saw 2 game, which actively hated on fans for their comments about this game's ending.

I think that's based on one of the films, only the character who does it in the films turns out to be "in on it" and working for Jigsaw, so they retcon it to "oh yea the needles were actually sterile so it just hurt badly and Jigsaw said the other stuff to scare them". (Also fun thing I learned, to make the film they replaced the needles on the syringes with short lengths of fibre optic cable.)

Its so funny that Tapp the player character is played by Danny Glover in the first Saw movie yet hes voiced in the game by the voice of Louis from Left 4 Dead I can't not hear it especially when he yells also as much as people give the SAW series and Dark pictures games flack I think if they developed a saw game it would be a match made in decision focused gameplay heaven.

People who aren't dying from cancer have weird ideas about what people dying from cancer do with their time. It's funny how often it gets turned into some weird fantasy, like, "Oh man, if I was dying from cancer and had nothing left to lose, I'd do [whatever thing person is too afraid to do now]!" People who have cancer in real life are mostly focused on staying alive and also obtaining painkillers. Terminal cancer isn't exactly a great source of motivation and energy to go and do something dramatic. The whole concept of the _Saw_ franchise would really make more sense if Jigsaw's motivation was that he came up with the whole death trap thing while on a coke binge (like the filmmakers) instead of after getting diagnosed with cancer.

I remember Chip Cheezum and Voidburger streamed this and the sequel a while back for charity! I don't know if you're planning on coming back to this, but if so, something I think I remember from their playthrough is that the best weapons are actually Tapp's bare fists; they don't do a lot of damage, but the light attack is fast enough to stunlock enemies. Contrasted by every other melee weapon in the game, which are all slow as hell. It's kind of baffling why the game's combat is like that, but once you realize that it does make it a little less painful to play. Still a bad game, though.

I'll say that it still might be worth checking out the first movie, as I personally think it still holds up alright, but when they smelled the money to be made as a franchise? That's when things started going off the rails. Like this game and its sequel.

From the 360, and leagues more enjoyable than The Devil in Me was. Tapp doesn't have any issue taking mysterious needles off of corpses but draws the line at stealing their shoes, huh. This feels ideal for a full playthrough in October

The first Saw is a really clever thriller film that has minimal gore and some really well planned twists and character work. I didn't see any of the sequels except for Spiral, which was terrible.

Got all the achievements for both saw games i have seen all the saw movies i like them my favourites were 1,2 and 7 prequel was also good one story is like this there is a guy named john kramer he was a engineer living his happy life with his wife Jill tuck she ran a recovery clinic for drug addicts the couple were about to welcome their first child and that puppet billy was for him they also had a name for their child Gideon but things took turn for worse when two drug addicts named Amanda young we can also see her in game and Cecil Adams rob from jill's clinic when Adam forcefully tries to enter threatening jill with knife he slams door open and hits jill on stomach via doorknob Cecil scared loots and runs John saw him running and rushes to clinic and finds jill injured later it's found out she had miscarriage then John kidnaps Cecil and puts him into one of his traps relationship between John and jill worsen and she devorced him John lost everything his son his wife he was dying from an inoperable frontal lobe tumor that had developed from colon cancer. After a suicide attempt, John found a new appreciation for his life, and dedicated the rest of his life to inspiring the same appreciation in others by testing their will to live.
