Testing the Rubbercraft SP-01R in 255/35R18 with my Subaru BRZ, at Queensland Raceway.
This is an 80 treadwear semi-slick which provided an exceptional amount of grip straight out of the gate. It gave a lot of confidence under load and managed to be predictable when exceeding the grip threshold. Overall, it hung in quite well considering the 30 degrees Celsius day, but did show signs of overheating after 3 push laps.
The most surprising aspect of this tyre was the grip under acceleration. Granted, the BRZ isn't making big power as it is normally aspirated, but I could get to full throttle sooner compared to other tyres I have driven on. Lateral grip showed some signs of a softer sidewall under increased load, with a little bit of sideways oscilation when on the limit of grip.
