I recorded this with my iPhone 12 Pro just to see how it sounds through the phone microphone. Listen with earbuds if you can. It’s not meant to be a composition, it’s just me noodling and playing different grooves.
This angle really shows off my dad bod belly. Heh!
The cajon is still about two weeks old-it needs time to set into its tone and the snare wires still are a bit tight despite manual stretching. It’ll take some time to settle into itself and start to take on a richer tone.
The Pepote Profesional cajon is the TOP OF THE LINE from their workshops in Spain. The body is solid (not laminated) tulipwood panels and is surprisingly light compared to my other cajons. The faceplate uses rosewood veneer and the frame under the faceplate is a wood called ukola. It has two sets of 10 wires, each set can be tensioned using a hex wrench. It has a mesh screen covering the rear sound hole and an extended horn for the sound hole itself, lowering the pitch and cleaning up the tone.
It needs tension adjustment on the snare wires-they are still too tight even when they are loosened all the way. 🤷🏻♂️
The video clip is simply a noodlefest.
