Trying out Ubuntu Touch on an External Display | Fairphone 4

This shows the current state of external display support on Ubuntu Touch/Lomiri (Ubuntu 20.04 - Focal). Lomiri was hacked to switch to multi-display since it is only available if the device is configured as a tablet/desktop.
Lots of codes shown here are actually from the incomplete work of Canonical before they dropped the project. They finally landed in focal however, it is still very much incomplete and buggy.

Lomiri seems like it'd make a great desktop UI. I miss Unity.

You use Kdconnect in libertine container? He work good and he connect automatically on your Linux computer or not?

No, although someone said he was able to. Phones are ARM architecture and PC games are for x86 so you may have to use something like box86 then Wine/Proton for the Windows compatibility. And the SOC is also underpowered.

Port for the Fairphone 5 isn't released yet or not yet in the installer.

Would like to know the terminal usability? I remember Ubuntu touch built on Ubuntu 16.04, will many dependencies be broken?

@@benhaotang bro the display server and de was has limited to some applications, doesn't work on many applications,but you can try the project renegade,this project makes your phone able to boot arm64 linux and windows arm64 os

When i was much younger as a kid and these cell phones were coming out i knew that this would be the future of computer's im surprised its only happening now a decade after i thought of it.. i would have been either one rich kid or a dumb kid with a other worldly idea...

Well what you see kind of existed a decade ago. The project just failed and dropped by the original developer. We have things like DeX but they're still not as good as a PC. Apple is in the best position to do it due to the move of macOS to arm and iPhones being very powerful but I don't know if they will do it given that it means cannibalizing their other product's sales 😄

This is awesome! But can you also use it as a normal phone? Calling & texting basically. The rest can probably be supplemented by webapps and waydroid.

@@sertralina100mg That would be cool but personally, I'd rather have 2 phones or use Waydroid. I think some devices supports multiboot. I believe Volla does
