Easily my favourite DCS Module. In answer to your question, the USMC, Italian and Spanish Navy still operate the AV-8B. To turn off the annoying "Pull up-pull-up", set your Radalt (Switch under the radio keybad), and then on the keypad press "alt", type in "50", and then press "ent". That will set your radalt warning to 50ft.

@@vicariousjohnson9823 "...assume you two are both military Pilots..." I'm inclined to believe you are extending and act of civility in giving the benefit of the doubt about their possible occupations, much less being in the military.. Personally, my feeling is that these are two insecure, bombastic keyboard DCS jocks with no active , much less reserve, duty military experience. There is a known interservice rivalry between branches, but at the end of the day, there is mutual respect. My son, r.i.p, was a Force Recon Marine and his son, my grandson, is a 0351. They and their fellow Marines, then and now, have a lot the muscles, stamina and heart to do the jobs the rest of don't or unable to do...also very intelligent and pay attention to detail...hmmm, not to unlike the SEALS or other special ops organizations, pilots and many of the other MOSs. These appear to be two NATO keyboard operators out here running their suck about Marines. Folks have heard of NATO, haven't they? No Action Talk Only. Ret'd USAR, Plt Sgt, E-7

@@TexasGreed Used to learn the mental state by using. Marble And dinner plate. So you learn to keep marble center of plate and then do controlled tiny movements to move it as wanted. As in helicopter controls it is "if you think it, you are giving too much input" level. After years flying helicopters the Harrier is super simple as it is so sluggish and balanced, as there is no rotating counter forces requiring predictive inputs. But F-35 is super easy compared to harrier, as you just tell it on what direction you want to go and it does all the rest. The Harrier IMHO is funniest fighter to fly in DCS as you get to do so fancy CAS. Constantly flying between combat and rearming site, while with Hornet you are still sitting returning back to base from first attack. I just hope that Razbam gets Harrier features implemented in this year as promised, as they are going to release F-15E in this year, and their promise was that no new modules are released until existing ones are completed from early access (M2000, AV-8B N/A and MiG-19P). And there is lots of things missing from Harrier so....

The experience-to-effectiveness curve for the Harrier is one of the steepest in aviation. Rookies are sitting ducks for AA and god help them if they come up against even some 3rd generation fighters. But watch out for gnarly veterans (with several thousand hours) who have been known to leave many an opponent in superior equipment with an acute case of embarrassment.

I remember the first time I flew the F/A-18 simulator at NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, FL. As a helo jockey, I had my work cut for me me, and everyone was watching me. It was a dogfight, me against 4 other real Hornet pilots at other sim stations. I was in the "globe", a 3-D dome with a fixed cockpit, moving lasers and projectors. Long story short, I was spawned at angels 21, behind an enemy Hornet. He was within range of a sidewinder, so I fired, and killed him. A little too easy! After that, the rest of them teamed up against me and blew me out of the sky 3 times! It was a short flight! As I stepped out of the sim, the squadron commander quipped, "You know you can't hover in a Hornet, right?" Hahaha... Yeah, yeah.... LOL I learned my lesson! It was fun, though!!!

Don’t know about DCS or real airplane but from various other VTOL games, I think you virtually “touch down” midair left behind 20-50ft up your actual touchdown, then slowly transition and descent. Harrier specifically has good roll and pitch authority overall but while in hover attitude is managed by bleed air thruster and especially yaw is limited. Since vertical component of thrust + vertical momentum changes so easily, throttle response being slow not helping, btw maybe slower then normal turbines since diameter is huge, it’s easy to realize you’re dropping down to the ground too fast too late. You’ll be watching vertical speed, pitch angle, and altitude, while wrestling horizontal drifts, and controlling forward velocity, without getting too much momentum, in that order, I think - that was what I was doing in front of a PC at 10yo.

"In Las Vegas today, services were held for little Jimmy, the boy horrifically incinerated when a Harrier AV-8B V/STOL Jump Jet, which was missing a wing tip and already on fire, crashed through his bedroom and violently exploded. Little Jimmy, who bravely managed a desperate call to 911, revealed his terror when his last words to the horrified operator were "I can't see...breathe..I'm on fire and ..can't...I...can't move my legs! I...uhh..I'm....". These would be little Jimmy's last words. Meanwhile, the names of the two pilots arrested have still not been released. If you recall, the pilot of the downed aircraft had managed to crawl to the street, where he was picked up by another Harrier pilot who had landed his craft nearby. It, too, had been previously damaged and was on fire, but managed to lift off, fly over the Stratosphere tower, hover, and set down on the roof. Witnesses in the Top-o'-the-Sphere Bar & Nudee Lounge stated that the two entered the bar, ordered a round for everyone, and commenced to party hardy. While the duo were being led from the tower in cuffs, a reporter yelled out "Why?". The reply, which came in an eerie Christopher Walken-like voice, was "The instructions. These instructions, that you speak.. about. We..., we didn't read no stinkin'..instructions". We'll have more on this as information becomes available". "A heartbreaking story. Thank you for that report, Biff. In other news, Joe Biden lost 17 straight games of checkers before managing a draw to Cheeky the Checker Playin' Monkey, appearing at Circus-Circus thru next Thursday. When asked about the humiliating defeat, Biden replied "I'm Cheeky Biden, man, and I'm runnin' for Senate. Or Joe. I like bananas!". Film at 11.

see that's what it looks like when a jet hits a building.... notice it didn't penetrate and the building that later on crashes down perfectly into a nice pile.... just sayin lol

Has DCS added the engine buzz heard in the cockpit? Source: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJTIZnVjltVgb7c. I'm sure the helmet muffles only some of the sound.
