I bought this monitor over a week ago! I had returned the Samsung Odyssey G8 because of the mini connectors and found the multimedia side of it caused issues for me! Luckily this monitor, alienware are using the same panel made by Samsung, I like it being passively cooled and not having to worry about a noisy fan that might have to be replaced eventually. Also found MSI has much better burn in features than the G8. Been using it for gaming, Netflix and youtube mostly. I don't want to ever go back to IPS or VA. The only thing I don't like is the connectors in the back face down so cables can still be seen even with a monitor arm with cable management built in. I think they could have placed the connections on the back facing the wall.

So jelly of your setup, looks so damn clean!!! Watching this on a older 4k monitor, that monitor looks sweet. I saw some people talking about productivity, issues with reading text, and something about it randomly shutting off every 4 hours, some kind of firmware issue/update. Did you run into any of that? I know its seems more catered to gaming, fps, etc, but I do some home studio/recording/making music from time to time, or when inspiration strikes. That 799 price tag is very tempting. Thanks for sharing as usual, I need to step up my setup a bit, every time I see yours, I just go..damn it..I want that, yes that right there!!!
@TechTesseract10 ай бұрын
Haha thanks! The only 3440x1440p monitor I've ever had an issue with text clarity/readability is the LG 45 inch, 34 inch I've always found to be fine tbh - Josh used a 42 inch LG C2 for a while and went back to 3440x1440 and didn't notice too much of a difference if that helps. Regarding the shutting off, it's the pixel refresh function that happens every 16 hours of the monitor being on, the way around it is to set the monitor to go into standby if not in use for more than X amount of time, that way it'll only refresh when you're not using it!

@Tichoz66610 ай бұрын
At first glance one would say that this is a cheaper version of the previous version. In reality this new version is better because it has the heatsink, so in the future you won't worry about a possible malfunctioning fan. The aesthetic in the back is irrelevant because you can't see it anyway and for the front this one is better in my opinion, the "old" one was very ugly and rgb can be distracting on a monitor. Oled care 2.0 also is a good addition. Unfortunately, here in Italy this monitor costs way too much ( 1200+ euro )
