Oh wow! I bought this for myself back in 2013 remembering that my mom used to wear this shade. At the time they also had a single shadow of Black Honey too, which was wild because on me it looked like a burgundy shade, but on my friend (who has a darker complexion) it looked almost iridescent pink! Forgot how much I loved the ease of this lipstick, might need to pick it up again!

They had a whole range of Black Honey products, I think there was an eyeshadow palette and even a nail polish. Then an eyeliner in a pot wich I believe is still available. There is also a Black Honey shade in the Cheek Pop blushes.

Agreed! It's so fun watching it come back around. Lip products are my favorite! It's been my go to lip product since 1999 or so. It's great cuz it looks different but great on everyone and it never goes out of style and goes with any eye look because it's so sheer and buildable. So if you do a really muted eye you can put on a few layers to do a bold lip or you can just swipe it across your lips once for a hint of color and subtle shine if you are doing a bold eye. It feels so good on too. Like lip balm. I can't say enough great things about this lipstick gloss/stain. It's the most versatile makeup products I own for sure.

Hrmn2811 x It's not different from anything and not special in any way. It's an easy to pull off for many people sheer lipstick. Viral doesn't mean special or groundbreaking. It's a nice product, been around for a long time. You can find a similar sheer shade easily.

Agreed. It's fun watching it come back around! I started using it when I was 19. Back in 1999 and it's in my top 3. I love lip products so that's saying something. It's the most versatile makeup product out there. It looks great on everyone and feels good on and it's buildable so you can wear a few coats with a nude eye or just one if you are doing a look that is more focused on a bold eye. I also live for Buxom full on lip plumping cream ( my fav shade is White Russian). It's so gorgeous and it really plumps up my pout and the formula is just the right amount of slippy and sticky so it stays on but your hair won't end up stuck to your mouth at the first gust of wind and it feels nice the lips and has a beautiful glossy shine

I first purchased and wore this as a freshman in high school in 1993. I last purchased this late last year (2020) and last used it about a month ago. Clinique gets so much heat, but they have some incredible products. They've never changed their aesthetic, and imo their aesthetic is still relevant and timeless.

My Clinique Black Honey pulls the same color as your lipstick. I have the Nivea Blackberry lip care. It isn’t as pigmented because it is a lip balm vs a lipstick. It definitely gives you a similar look for about $3. Both are quite nourishing on the lips this time of year.

This is great! I didn't know this was a viral lipstick. Total blast from my past. I remember when I was a teen back in the 80s my mom bought me this lipstick. At the time, Clinque seemed like such a fancy and expensive brand you could only buy it behind the counter at the department store. It felt so luxurious to go to the counter for a "consultation" and have the ladies pull the products out in their beautiful packaging. Now in the department stores they have it out on the floor, and you can just pick it up without asking for someone to pull it. Also, Ulta, Sephora, Amazon and even Target carry this brand now.

@Clouds By no means am I saying Clinique isn't still luxurious. I mean it's a $20.00 lipstick. My statement was more based on the fact that the brand marketing was more about exclusivity. They promoted that feeling of not just anyone could walk into the store and pick up a box with their lipstick in it, take it to the register and pay. It was being watched like expensive jewlery kept locked in a case. I think all brands are more accessible now because there are so many and so much competition. Even the drugstore brands have upped their game tremendously to compete. Also, back in the day, most people weren't willing to pay a lot for cosmetics or they just couldn't because a lot of people didn't have credit cards.

This is so funny. In Iraq we call it “Magic stick” it’s not black tho it’s green like bright green it’s a balm that changes colour according to the person’s skin tone and warmth, and it’s been known for ages. In 2010 we were 4 generations that wore it, me, my mama, my grandmother and her mother ♥️

This reminds me so much of a product that Avon used to carry when I was a teenager in the late 1980s. It was called slick tints and it was a cross between a balm and a lipstick. It was the first lip product my sister and I ever wore. Our Mom used to buy it for us all the time. They had a color that was spot on for black honey and other gorgeous colors. I miss those days so much. My mom always made sure I had makeup that was appropriate for my age .💜

If you can't afford or find this lipstick, it looks very similar to the color of Chapstick brand total hydration moisture + tint in Merlot. It is my favorite lip product atm and gives that really beautiful, sheer red warmth to your lips like this Clinique product appears to. Probably not as smooth or glidey but a cheaper and more available option.

I remember having this in a pot in the 70’s. I loved it, but as it got deeper into the pot, it got too messy to wear it, it kept getting trapped under my fingernails.
