1) Your voice is so therapeutic 2) this definitely grabbed my attention. When I was younger I was using similar products as you, hearing the natural community say things like this baffles me, especially because my hair was a lot longer/thicker then. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be doing with my hair now either lmao 😂

Kinda late to this video but the same way you use lotion/moisturizer (which is a product that has water as it’s 1st or one of the 1st ingredients) on your skin after a shower you should do for your hair. Cause your hair has lots of water absorbed from the shower so use a moisturizer to add more water then use a oil on top to trap the moisture because the oil sits onto of the water (Think about how oil floats on top of water in a cup, it’s the same concept) in your hair keeping it moisturized. The oil doesn’t do the moisturizing but it can trap water which is key tool for hair. So although I mostly agree with the girl in the video. I think it’s important to note that after a shower while your hair is drenched you should use a real moisturizer then an oil/butter to trap the water from the shower and moisturizer then braid your hair for a protective style and wrap it with a silk material. I have 4c hair and ever since I stared strictly following this method my hair had grown and I’ve had less split ends. My entire childhood I had trouble with my hair, split ends, dryness, and it was always tangled I hated my hair. but I promise that this method works. Now my hair is soft actually moist, not tangled and I have few split ends and I enjoy and love my hair. The key is actually knowing which order to use the product and knowing what they’re made with and how they work. 😀

Ya damn right! Our hair is actually very simple to deal with. I think the trouble people have is thinking about products and not technique, and having people who are actually being paid by companies provide false or half-baked information.

Yay, I found another natural KZbinr who feels the same as I do. I also make hair videos and was thinking about having a talk on the natural hair community. There was reel video I seen that was on high porosity hair but everyone in the comments was saying her hair is low porosity. I got confused and was thinking wait ✋what is mines now lmao. And now we have to be careful on how we type our hair.. I thought mines was between 4A to 4C and then someone questioned my hair type. At this point I just do whatever my hair likes lol Every few years there's something new to let us know what we've learned over the years is wrong. 😣

I feel like many people in the natural hair community overcomplicate their hair and how to treat it. I personally never really knew much about hair porosity and my hair is very healthy without apply those principles(I think lol). I remember hearing someone mention that hair types are just a way to encourage texturism which was interesting. I could honestly talk about this for hours on end lol. I'm about to check out your channel !

I think what’s most important is balance. Don’t strip completely the oil/wax (sebum) produced to protect hair and skin. Products come with other chemicals that are actually damaging to hair. They can disrupt balance in scalp, and i can attest that some products have too much acidic products, surfactants, alcohols, etc. I have 3b-3c, medium porosity hair, and I use a gentle shampoo that I can come through and no conditioner. I follow up with a styling cream or a leave in, with a mousse. None else is needed and I have little to no build up or scalp issues. Oils/butter mimic sebum and protect and strengthen hair. I would only use it on the scalp and skin, but should be paired with hydration. To add: I use a body oil cleanser and I have not had to a heel buffer since or suffer from cracked skin. The one i use for my face strips my pores clean and its anti aging and treat hyperpigmentation. My lashes are really long and my nails are growing like crazy and their strong like acrylic. I think when it comes to oil in hair, it reinforces the strength but the leave a course texture, like my nails. This isn’t awful in my opinion, but it isnt desirable to many. I think the answer to all this is, dont gunk up hair, so you dont have to strip it. Less is more and the method should be simple.

Thank you so much for your input. I've been living by the less is more method but it can be challenging when dealing with low porosity hair, my hair constantly feels like there isn't enough product but piling products doesn't help either. Now, I'm realizing that the main key to moisture (for me) is water and styling when wet.

I used to use diva curl, do the co-washing, I used cantu and Shea moisture, and my hair started getting unmanageable. I could barely go 1-2 days without a massive knot forming and it was all the build up left from those products. I went to a specialist and she taught me how to wash my hair. I also started avoiding coconut oil and shea butter in my shampoo and conditioner. My hair has never felt better and I can wear it down for a week, and it refreshes beautifully. When it’s wet i put in a curl cream, a gel, and then I apply an oil right before it fully dries and also an anti humidity spray.

I personally agree with the video, because I tried it out for myself. Obviously the three-step method is a hair detox and with a detox your hair will go through an “ugly phase” where your hair is all over the place. I’ve tried it for about six or seven hair washes and after 30 days I can successfully say that my hair has detoxed and is creating (A LOT) its own oil and nutrients without the use of butters jams grease or leave in conditioners. I say don’t beat it until you try it out. As for the detangling thing obviously it’s gonna take more time for others bc we have different hair densities and lengths . All I know is that I’m grateful my wash days went from a wash day to wash hour/ wash half hour.

Great video! But also, you're like so pretty. I'm gonna try using a water-based moisturizer and then like put oil-based moisturizer in my hair to lock the moisture, like I read in one of the comments. I've always questioned the little hair type thingie because like.. hair is so diverse and we shouldn't put in a stupid box because some guy said too! We shouldn't base *all* of our hair decisions based on what its shaped like, because there are so many other factors at play; such as the porosity, how much oil it naturally produces, and if it's more fine or coarse.. etc. etc. Hair is a spectrum with many factors affecting how it should be treated, and learning to care for it is a journey. It's not very often you see two of the EXACT same kind of hair Also I'm like super late.. lol 😀

@@kotasinterlude that's not true. The major problem with Devacurl is that they promoted co-washing only which caused major product buildup for people and made their hair dry, brittle and fell off over time. Girl, please do your research yourself, dear
