I was lucky to go to CR for vacation one year. We stayed in San Juan for a day then crossed the mountains and stayed in Quepos for the remainder of the vacation. It was sensory overload! Everything was beautiful and the air was perfumed with orchids. The chefs from all the restaurants met the fisherman on the beach and your dinner was that days catch. Unbelievable...easily the best food I have ever had. I love to observe the people where I vacation and I noticed that they drank a lot of coffee. It is very much a cultural thing. Costa Rica is basically a jungle. I sweat in places I didn't know I had sweat glands! The last thing I wanted was a steaming, hot cup of coffee. And then I had a cup of coffee at Cafe Milagro...suddenly, it all my sense why they all drink coffee and the light bulb blew up over my head. It makes me emotional now talking about it. I am a coffee drinker and that was easily the BEST cup of coffee i ever had in my life. That sounds cliche but it is true. It was so flowery and fruity tasting yet retained a full coffee flavor. That was many years ago but occasionally I put an order in to Cafe Milagro for some real coffee beans. As I sit and drink that special cup of coffee I am transported to that day I had my first real cup of coffee...Pura Vida!!!!
