I don’t consider that a helpful hack at all. I’ve been doing my own since 8th grade, so I have hard earned skills 😂, but when I went to cosmetology school the cuticle/nail bed area was the hardest for everyone without fail. I was the student they had helping everyone since I started already being able to do nails and everyone would love doing the tip part and start stressing the closer they got to the nail bed, especially on themselves even when working on their non-dominant hand. Definitely not a hack. Perhaps if they did a more complex tip with different glitters and colored acrylic, maybe I can see that, but one color….not really.

When I started doing my nails a year ago I disciplined myself to ALWAYS start painting my dominant hand (working w my non-dominant). That way I knew if I did an ok job on the first hand, it would be easier on the other one. I could give up a hard design early and waste less time than if I had completed a whole hand. If anyone is new to nail art, I recommend this! 💅💜

Omg!! I did the same method too! I figured I’d do the hardest hand 1st, so I always started w/my dominant-so much in fact, I think I kinda do that hand better than my non-dominant! It took me nearly 2 years of doing my nails- ESPECIALLY learning how not to rip my cuticles apart w/the elec file!

I’m in nail tech school right now and my educator gave me a great tip for using pigments on gels like you’re doing. If your gel doesn’t have a sticky enough dispersion layer use clear foil glue gel on top of your colour, cure that and dab on your pigments. It will stick to the foil glue as it’s made to be sticky! Totally changed my pigment game lol.

I've seen the Korean nail artists just put the peel off base in the middle of their nails, not on the sides, so there's a little bit of adhesion. They then apply cuticle oil liberally and gently ease them off with an orange stick when they want to remove them.

That is not really peel off base, that is skin protector for different designs with polish. My advice is to get a regular peel off base coat that you cure under the lamp. The one you used has a texture of latex/regular Elmer's glue when dry, that's why the nails popped off. Also, if you desire to use this barrier as your peel off, don't cover your entire natural nail. Leave a margin of about 2-3mm and after this use a regular base coat or don't use anything. This way they can last longer but I'd say 2-3 days tops (if you're careful).

Yes, Jello is a real peel off base, this in the video is just latex barrier for when you do nail design and want to protect your skin. But I agree with you, use this only in the center of the nail.

@@mellinsomnia1 Yeah, the Jello one is solid. The latex stuff was the same peel off base gel (in this video)? I can't seem to wrap my head around that lol. You should try the Koko & Claire peel off base, you have to soak your nails in warm water to activate the peel off otherwise it holds like a gel base coat. At least that’s what they say. I’m curious if it really works. Also the UberChic barrier is latex free, which for people with latex allergies is fantastic and super hard to find as most have latex in them.

Evie...the 'Nail Art Barrier" is like liquid latex, you know, the kind that you use to protect your skin when doing nail art. It's not a peel off base coat, that is why you're having a hard time getting them to stick. Have you ever tried the 'Pop Off Method' for your temporary sets? Just coat your nail beds with cuticle oil, then top them with two coats of top coat, glue on your tips, and you will have a pretty solid adhesion while filing and styling. Pop off when you're done, totally protects your nails and works like a charm.

For long-lasting removable nails, I prep and then: -Put Beetles no wipe top coat -Cure that and rub cuticle oil on top -Use alcohol to remove excess oil -Go in with Makartt peel-off base coat 1x -Lastly, Beetles nail glue gel to add tips I mainly use full- cover tips and they stay put until I want them off. Longest I kept a set was 3wks and they didn't budge, then cuticle oil w/ orange wood stick for quick removal. The top coat makes the glue slide off with oil, protecting my nails from damage. Don’t forget to add your vids at the end. ☺️ I find acrylic very hard to work with. Perhaps I need to bite the bullet & pay more. I'm applying on my own nails (must type a lot for work) and find that they are a disaster by the time application is done… filing is exhausting & there's usually 🩸 & 😭. 😉

Try putting the peel off basecoat almost to the edges but leave a gap so that the outside areas where lifting usually happens doesn't have any peel off basecoat.

You should try the koko & Claire base…to pop them off, you soak in hot water. I keep mine on for a couple of weeks and then pop them off!

Try JelloJello base coat and One Kill remover for peel off that works! It’s a Korean brand and is amazing. I did learn the hard way to not use primer because that causes it to work just like a regular base coat. I’d love to see what you think about it. ☺️

For the peel off to work you gotta only apply it to the middle of your nail and leave the edges unpainted so the base coat still has a little adhesion. A lot of Korean nail artists do it that way.

I feel like that builder gel hack would look super cool with curvy lines from the cuticle to the tip to show more other ombré!

Loved it! Try using lint free wipes. You'll use less paper towels for sure and less alcohol.... I liked them before the wipe down with the bubbles as well!

I have the same issue with my nails and the popping off 🤪🤪 it drives me crazy! No matter what I do, unless I use a good primer, consider them gone lol 😅 Your videos are always so awesome 💐 thank you for helping me to learn and inspiring me to do my own nails at home 💖

Peel off base coat works best on top of some type of product! If you put like a base or nude gel on, cure it and then put the peel off base coat it shouldn’t pop off like it does on your natural nails. My dip powder will pop off in a day or less if it’s on my natural nail too. I usually keep the full cover Gel-X tip for a few weeks so each week I’ll just pop off the dip powder, file and then put base and top coat on before doing the peel off base coat.

I think by mixing the clear gel and the pigment and just placing them on the nail will be better and less time consuming
