Thank you for the video great tractor 🚜 my dad had 4020 and the sound of the engine was incredible I love it

I always love when we get it out just for that reason -some pure, unfiltered exhaust and raw power!

I have had a lot of experience driving the old JD's with the Syncro-Range 8 speed transmission. It looked like you were shifting it correctly, but there could be a problem with the linkage to get to eighth gear. Probably just needs to be freed up. Road gear might not have been used for the last 40 years. Great old tractors. Thanks for sharing.

I loved the 20 series. We have a 4320 diesel and a 3020 diesel. I am 42 now and started out on these farming at around 10 or 11.
@jameskelley88394 жыл бұрын
couple weeks ago Larson Farms youngest is watching his grandfather pull-start the '54 JD 70 diesel, which he says, he knows nothing about but is observant enough to say 'that's the tractor that built this farm'. Watching your experience with the 4520 tells me that your situation is probably exactly that too

I know that the people that have the worst opinions of farming usually have the least experience. Thousands of operations were built upon generations of hard-work, selflessness, and dedication. I wish I could have a few conversations with my ancestors. Thanks for the comment!

That storm was crazy. Looks like 10 million acres of corn damaged/flattened. Tons of tree damage, still power out in some areas and today is Thursday. We had over 90 mph winds in Iowa City.

Hope you get your power back soon. The outages are supposedly still widespread!
@davidraaf38654 жыл бұрын
@@aTrippyFarmer ,we have power! Thanks for thinking of us. Now Cedar Rapids is another world right now. They were hit along harder than the Iowa City area. That middle band really got hammered. Take care!

I have never seen heads moved with a 3 point before (learned something new). I usually hop on the 4020 once per year to transport an auger and always struggle to get it into the high gear.. it is very touchy
@aTrippyFarmer4 жыл бұрын
Actually I’ve never seen it elsewhere either. Most people are more refined and store their heads on a cart. We don’t have to cart around 8 rows, so we never got any.

I put a lot of hours on a 4520. They are bulletproof only amateurs have trouble with the transmissions.

You gotta appreciate the raw power of an unfiltered engine. I would love to see what today’s engine technology could do if we weren’t limited by EPA regulations. That may be for the best, but it would be neat.
@glennspreeman16344 жыл бұрын
does it still have the original engine or has been replaced?
@aTrippyFarmer4 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. I believe it is the original; although, they were notoriously troublesome engines.

The JD 4520 is that a powershift or a synchro shift, exactly? If u dont know ask ur dad he'll certainly know.
@aTrippyFarmer4 жыл бұрын
It’s a synchro. Very easy to tell if you look at the shifter.
@nickolasburger59994 жыл бұрын
