Here we have the start of a new mini series of attempted fixes on broken unusual branded items. To start it off we have a faulty Lamborghini mobile cell phone which retailed in 2017 at $2500. It was sold in Harrods, Dubai and other areas in the United Arab Emirates. I paid £299 from eBay in 2022. It doesn't power on. Can it roar into life again or will it end up on the scrap heap...let's find out.
If you have any other ideas for interesting products from expensive brands, please add them to the comments and I will see if I can get hold of a faulty one.
Merch is here!!!!! www.puddlt.com...

If you have an interesting 'non returnable' item for a 'trying to fix' video then my PO box is as follows. Please only use if you are from the UK and using Royal Mail.

Remember that this is just for entertainment and I am not an expert in these repairs. The processes in the video may not be the best way, the correct way or the safest way to fix these things. I do love fault finding and trying to fix broken things, so I hope that comes across in this 'Trying to FIX' series. Many thanks, Vince.

It's mostly those small things that damage more expensive items (mainly pecause of penny pinching during the design period). Back when the PS4 came out the trigger buttons on the (back then quite expensive) PS4 controllers wore out because Sony decided to save a fraction of a cent on each by removing some silicone. You could get one relatively cheap on ebay, they were fixable with a dot of silicone (the stuff used to seal gaps in bathrooms).

Oh man. talk about a potential return on investment if you want to sell it down the line. Beyond the potential monetary value, this is a prime example of how much we might avoid throwing away or wasting if we had just some basic troubleshooting and tinkering skills. Who knows how many electronic devices have been thrown away, assumed "dead", when in fact all they needed was a tiny sliver of plastic in the right place, or a replaced bit of foam or rubber. :) Love your vids. Thanks for sharing these experiences with us.

The interesting thing about the price tag is that the brands have the phone built to spec put a price tag of what they think will distance regular buyers and those with more money than sense and the "limited edition" items usually sell out (no pun intended) - if they can manage to get on a KZbin/social media influencer channel that almost guarantees they'll be sold out right around launch based on the "buzz". Sometimes these items come with a "concierge" service for a period of time too which is nothing more than what you would get having a credit card with a high annual fee. Great repair job - I can see how someone with this phone would just sit and press that power/wake button for hours on end like a fidget spinner....

When you pay that much for a phone for status, you don't care if its waterproof. you'll just buy a new one. Most luxury items aren't very durable for this reason.

No phone is waterproof. The most "waterproofed ones" will succumb to water damage. It's just that they hold it off slightly and have indicators to tell the repairer/recycler it was water damage.

@@acumenium8157 I've got a galaxy s8 that spent a week at the bottom of a creek 2 years ago and it still works to this day, I also washed it under a tap weekly. Just opened it last week to put a new battery in it (So it's not waterproof anymore) But there was no evidence of ingress after all those years. It just kicks around on the bench now paired to my thermal cam.

It's based on a Chinese phone, and made back in 2017. Don't expect waterproof to be a norm for these "boutique" phones. You're more likely to fine rare metals and gems on these phones than waterproofing.

Just goign to say I love your videos, even if I have only found oyur channel recently via KZbin recommendations. Its still going to have the one contact point at the power button, that will likely wear. It's a great little bodge fix though and likely stronger plastic than the original, which was likely soft to cushion the pressing, but with reduced lifespan. If you wanted to make sure the bodge plastic didn't move, you could put just a dab of hot glue on it. Unfortunately given the age of the phone, it is likely not getting any new updates for the Android version on the phone, so it likely is missing a lot of features and security patches. I believe it has the MiFavour UI in it, which is Xiaomi product so although it may have been based on a ZTE design, I believe this phone may actually be a Xiaomi phone
