Neat repair Joey! Being able to stay calm after making a mistake is the difference between a technician who will actually fix the device and one who won't!

I'd love to see you go through and repair something older and more obscure like some of the old walkmans or atari lynx handhelds something along those lines. Would be sick

Good job Joey, you've inspired me to give this malarkey a go. I've got myself a nice thermostatic soldering station and some other bits. SO far I've repaired 4x games console controllers. Next is to move on to fixing some drones and consoles!

I know nothing about this sort of thing, but it it's so intersting to watch... When the heat from the gun melts the solder and it all becomes uniform just way too satisfying. Better than a money shot.

That marking on the back is most likely marring from a rubberised case. Would explain why it's in such good condition, and if the fan wasn't working probably why the wifi chip self deleted as the case traps the heat in.

I used to work for Cash Converters in Chesapeake, VA. They do carry some good things there. I worked both the sales floor and buys counter. I enjoyed working there. I no longer live there and heard that they unfortunately closed

I've owned a switch with the orange screen issue for 3 odd years now. Just stuff a little extra pressure against that wifi chip and closed it up. It's happy haha not the 'proper' way to do things but I've gotten a lot of great use out of the device :)

I would like to heard your theories about what caused some problems. Like the wifi chip was in a weird situation. I like these thoughts cause they can prevent some problems for others

I have seen chips sometimes fail short internally and burn up like that before, can make tracking things down a hell of a time if you don't have a good light or a close eye. I recall a control IC on a small SATA disk-on-module before that had the tiniest burn mark next to the surface - lots of time wasted trying to figure out why it would not mount as a disk before noticing that pinhole burn on the surface.

This may have already been mentioned but, as it does fluctuate, it would be nice to see an Average Hourly Profit (inc. those hours where you made a loss)

Hey Joey, or anyone with some advice..Just looking to make my first repair after being inspired by your content! I need to replace a micro usb port on a baby monitor (just for fun and to see if I can do it). Looking at heat guns and as I'm a complete newbie I don't want to spend loads of money. I'm just wondering if one of the cheap (under £20) micro heat guns from amazon will do the job at removing the old port? Or will that be a complete waste of money? Many thanks in advance the JDT community

Great videos. Love your content. both the live ones and the ones on youtube. BUT, why is you estimated proffit so much lower than your actual proffit. On tha last Disc PS5 you estimated sellprice of £250 with an estimated profit of £59,51. But when you sell it for actual £243 your actual profit goes up to £75. Wouldnt the calculated estimated profit be higher?

Applying that kind of heat to microfiber damages the plastic it's made of and will make it abrasive. If you're going to do that, never use that particular cloth for anything else again.

I'm going to guess, the fan failed on the switch lite, causing the unit to overheat and the wifi IC to blow a chunk out

The amount of ads in your videos is ridiculous Joey. Love your content but being taken out of the flow every few minutes just ruins things for me. Appreciate you have a living to make but your viewer experience should be a consideration too.

Hey bud, I rarely have people comment about how many ads are played in the videos, as I haven’t changed how many I put on videos in the last few years. However last night I had a few comments on different videos about ads, so will keep an eye to see if KZbin has changed anything.
